I wrote another 3k after midnight, but that'll have to be a part of today's tally. I'm in the midst of a perfect storm of a story that I A) NEED to tell B) like telling and C) allows my competitiveness to post some numbers on a graph. Huzzah! Time for sleep!
You can set the spreadsheet so that only certain users (usually verified by email address) are able to edit the sheet and the rest of the public are only limited to viewing. btw, how do I join in? I wanna join in! ^_^
Not really. Earl Stanley Gardner wrote one 50k+ word novel per week at his height. Pulp speed is real.
I only wrote 50 words, mostly because I didn't want my first day of the month to be zero. I'm in editing mode right now (an SF novel).
When I edit I work out how many words I added in the process and count those as new words, since they are.
When I edit, I wait until the end of the day and count any words I've added more than when I started. Unfortunately, I've been deleting far more words that adding in this book. It's usually the other way. So far today, I've added a lot of words, but I've deleted almost 200 more words.
I actually got some words written (on a side project) today. This has been a very unproductive Labor Day weekend, both due to the holiday and Pain (I fell down a few steps and have a toothache.) Tomorrow, though, it is back to the SF edits. Ack! but I'm going to try and get at least 1k a day on side projects until the editing is done. Try. No promises.
I am going to bed before 1 am tonight. Child 1 is in daycare. Child 2 will be looked after by my wife (thank you, maternity leave!), I've already got lunch spending the night in the slow cooker... Tomorrow will be 8 straight hours of my face smashed against the business end of the word mine. Tremble, Adam. (Competition is one of the few things that defeats my procrastination with anything akin to regularity. All in good fun, Adam.)
I've only been poking my head in this week due to being busy about writing, but I had to step in and just say... uh... holy f**cking shit dude. My girlfriend is mad at you. She is proud on a 1,500 word day. lol.
Thanks, all. I'd like to make days like yesterday the norm. I was actually appalled by how much "downtime" there was (I tried to be really good about keeping a record of when I "wrote", and the voice recorder has time tags.) Of course, I ended up taking it too far and writing/dozing/hallucinating until 5 am and now I feel like I tangled with a truck and lost... And remember, it's raw so it still needs an edit! That having been said, turning off the modem was a big help!
