I thought the same thing. It could be either but my money is that the magic of the labyrinth is what allows beings access to the universal interface/HUD. My reasoning is that the labyrinth is fashioned as a game.

True. But the natives will be as important to Richter for the simple reason that they are far more numerous and they can be trusted to a greater degree for the most part. Personal power is good. Numbers though have a quality all their own.

It seems you can't get a skill without a Class on Telos. But it's easier to get a Class. Still you have to be more careful with your build.

    How is it limited?

From level 1 you can get a combat class which you can develop with class points, vs needing to raise a skill to level 45 (something only a small percentage of the human population of Yves ever accomplice) first, after which you need to invest your talent points into developing it . Sure you need to increase your soul points as well in the new world (no telling whether that's a factor in the Land yet), but there are likely ways to do so. Such as leveling, Remy gains 10 per personal level. Advancing to level 1 in the cleric class grants +5 energy, if that continues you can take multiple classes and level them as a way to farm Energy (though you wouldn't be gaining any class skills).

It might be slightly more restrictive in how rapidly you can grow, but unlike the Land system everyone can get a class instead of it being for the privileged few.

The energy costs, cant grab easy skills in cooking or other basic skills that while they could improve your life minorly, would cost too much energy to spec into another class and snag them. Same reason Remy was hesitant to lock himself into the warrior (?) class out the gate.

I think that's just the 50 energy points invested by the god divided by 10. So it shouldn't happen for any other class.

EDIT: ok I'm wrong, there's exactly the same +5 energy for the Warrior Class.

Can't pick up skills as you please in the land either. Most people have low affinities and are going to get a door to the face no matter how much they train, study and struggle. If they are lucky they discover that they have one or two maxed (100% affinities) that might, might just take them to journeyman before hitting 50% so they can get a profession. Could also take them to level 44. They have no control over whether said affinities are related to combat, crafting, the intellectual sphere, magic, performance, or something else. Its a reflection of their nature, but its still a pretty heavy limitation.

In Remy's world you get 10 energy and 30 class points per level. That's sufficient energy that a warrior can support the talents bell ringer and fast hands 1. With the class level he has an additional +5 energy that can be used for non-class skills, though he chose to get another common warrior skill, short blades after qualifying.

When Remy leveled warrior again he gained +10 energy instead of +5.

As long as Remy is a bit choosy and doesn't take every skill/ fancy talent that comes along he will be fine, as will other warriors. Its a system that requires planning out what talents and skills you need, and you'll want companions to cover your weak points because you simply can't be an allround fighting machine, crafter and survivor unless you wish to cripple your own potential.

yeah but even though an average joe might only have an 52% affinity with something even skill level of one in skills can provide benefits. Like richter's single skill in cooking allows him to see a food prompt with some basic info. 1 skill in tracking, herb lore, regular lore, construction etc. Even if they never get to reach the heights of professionals in these skills the amount of extra info they could pull from their surrounds could be immense.

Now, obviously even these examples don't apply to everyone, but even with the limitations they can be a little balanced. Vs in Telos their choices in what skills they grab are equally punishing to the chosen talents of professionals from day one. As you said, in Telos, " Its a system that requires planning out what talents and skills" but how will they know how to plan, they're walking around blind. At least in the land if you grab an extra shitty skill you still get a benefit without the penalty. In telos having an extra skill might kill you because you didn't have the little bit of extra energy.

I noticed that every godly Art seems linked to a magic type on the Land. We saw Earth, Fire, and Soul. The dwarf god was almost certainly Dark, the cup creator Blood. I'm not sure about the spider god, Death maybe? Or maybe Life, in a twisted way?

Life would be fitting. Its also possible he is a nature god who will have a less clearly defined set of powers related to the woodlands.

I don't think a few bad choices will mean as much as you make it out to be. So far a skill is five energy. I have a feeling that skills won't cost much more energy as they advance, because the cost lies in the effort to advance them. I guess they might increase at rankups, no way to tell.

You could have to forego a talent such as bellringer if you chose to get a couple supplementary skills instead early on, or a rank in fast hands. Its not an impossibly high cost, especially not when levelling up your class gives 5 Energy points at level 1, 10 at level 2, and so on.

A solution for those who feel restricted by Energy is to advance their souls. A fabled soul for example gets 50 bonus Energy points per level plus 10 stat points and 60 class points. That's five times the Energy gained per level compared to a limited soul.

On the flip side, its possible some of the less advanced souls get less than 10 Energy points per level. If so they definitely need to figure out how to advance their souls before they level too much, at least to the limits of the mortal ranks.

    Edit:

Apparently i have been spreading misinformation. Remy's soul rank is equivalent to a limited soul, but for whatever reason he gains only 10 bonus energy points per level. That increased to 20 energy at level 3. I think there is an error here.

Ghost a limited soul gets four stat points and 20 bonus energy per level.

Midnight dust, an uncommon soul gets four stat points and 10 bonus energy per level.

A common soul possibly only gets five bonus energy per level, which would be a severe limitation forcing them to pick only 1 skill and be choosy on their talents.

Might be a bad formulation on Aleron's part, but my guess is Remy's soul is actually at a lower rank than Ghost's
and his body/cultivation/divine core grants him an additional 2 stat points.

An interesting question is where the magic cores (used to make Core buildings) came from:

option 1: they are made from the divine core of a dead god
option 2: high-tier gods can make them as long as they are willing to pay the price in divine points.

So if they are coming from the gods, than how do they get to the land? Or is there a limited amount now that the gods are banished? Is it possible that they can come through the Labyrinth?

Do you think there is a possibility with the new Age of Chaos that one could acquire magic cores from the Labryinth?
