Hey Folks, My name is Chris and I am an author and new member of the forum. I am excited to be here and spend some time reading and commenting. I am currently hard at work on my first LitRPG book in an ongoing series/world called The Realms. I am a lifelong fantasy and sci-fi nerd and I've played RPGs since I was a kid. My Mom, after reading an editorial claiming Dungeons and Dragons drove kids to worship dark forces in the sewers, bought me the original boxed set. I was ten, and it’s probably a good thing I was afraid of sewers. This is also before I read IT by Stephen King, so I wasn't truly terrified yet. Since then I've been obsessed with reading, writing and playing all things fantasy and science fiction. Then a few months back I discovered LitRPG and read 12 books in the next three weeks. Suffice to say I am hooked. After spending nearly two decades working as a creative executive for an animation and SFX studio, I've decided to pursue his lifelong dream of writing and publishing novels and short stories. All the Best, Chris
Thanks for the welcome folks. I'm still relatively new to the LitRPG genre, but I played D&D for most of my life and love Skyrim, Fallout etc. etc. I binge read The Land, Viridian Gate Online, Awaken Online, some of Robert Bevan's stuff, Celvers LLC, Reboot. Any recommendations for what I should tackle next?
I just finished reading Fantasy Online Hyperborea which was a lot of fun. If you are at all into Japanese culture/otaku culture the real world components the author brought to the book are dead-on. If not the in game mechanics were a lot of fun as well.
5. SpeedRunner What a surprise. Latest love. I can't wait for book 2! 4. Gamer for Life Book one was my jam and a delight to read. Book 2 wavered a bit and gave me less of what I loved, however, I hope for book 3 to be even bettah. 3. The Weirdest Noob The Weirdest Noob features all the beloved tropes mashed into one volume of LitRPG goodness. 2. Survival Quest Every book was great except for that ONE. Uh huh, everyone knows which one I'm talkin' about. 1. End Online: Volume 1 The series that took my LitRPG Honorable mentions: Hero of Thera, Catharsis, Life in the North (for the shopping!), Ascend Online, Chronicle of the Eternal: Volume 1, Life Reset, Start the Game Here are my top 5 that I copied straight from Goodreads!~ =)
