Hasn’t it been mentioned that you need more and more complex things to continue your advancement?

It does? That's not how I remember it. It gives more skill exp because of the increased challenge and the stats are better. But the quality depends more on the smith.

There is a big element of chance involved in which tier of quality you reach. It changes as you level the skill, but i'm not so sure effort does much for it. On the other hand simpler designs likely take less time, so more chances to craft something high quality.

If you want more XP than doing the same thing over and over, you need new stuff and if it is more advanced the more XP you will get too. But if you skill is not high enough vs the project skill required it will nock the quality down ranks. Lots of it is based on chance for the same amount of effort (like a random number generator on a range), but if you skill isnt high enough for the item the quality will get knocked down ranks anyway independent of random number generated. So a higher level schematic will advance the skill more than a simple one, but you will have 0% chance of a masterwork instead of 0.1%? chance for a masterwork. Does anyone want to figure out what the probability distribution function and cumulative probability distribution function for smithing?

Basically masterworking is only possible based on skill level /rank (with some change as you approach ranks from skill level). It should be an equal chance to masterwork something simple to something complex as long as you have the right level for what your building (denoted by the schematic).

Aside from that, making a bunch of iron daggers isn't easier to masterwork, but they take less time to make giving you more chances at your current masterwork percentage chance in the same time as it would take to make one longer project (also less chances to screw up in the mean time). They would give abysmally low XP though, since they are easy and quick to make though. Longer projects have an equal chance to be masterworked, but take longer, meaning it takes longer to hit that percentage chance on average. The trade off is that the longer project gives more XP towards smithing, raising your level faster and increasing said percentage chance to make masterwork items.

    Let me get this straight.
Why don't we exactly have every dude in the Guard wearing at least 8 rings of +25 to +55 to health?! sure if you HAVE better rings, yes MAGICAL rings in the Guard(as a homeless hobo guard that is) sure wear them too.

Do we lack powdered crystal? no- we have 20 tons of that crp
Do we lack Craftsmen? No- they exist, and even Richto can make these rings(+10 is not amazing, but for lvl 5 guardsman or even level 10 8 rings of +10 to health is pretty awesom)
Do we lack Metals?! - 500 tons of those in the mines easily...
Souls? - plenty of soul stones, even hunters gather beast souls..

I believe this is a massive oversight by Richto.

What is happening here is that a few master craters from Yves, don't wanna share Expensive rings with other lowlifes..
& with Richter focused on other priorities so now we have what 200+ DEAD villagers & sprites?! lot wtf

I believe in the book way of the Shaman, MC was stuck in the prison and barrely scraping by, then he decided to make magical rings and the got super OP, super quick.
Then started selling those +1str rings to others, then making +2str rigs selling etc..

Yeah, 8 rings cost you nothing to wear, but at the VERY least they will give you +8 to constitution. lol
And mass producing should be super easy with the resources the Village has.
Ignorance & stupidity & the greed from crafters. Thats the reason for 200+ deaths.. sure we only might have saved 50 lives with rings but what if those would have saved 155 lives..
In a fight usually the toughest son of a gun lives the longest.

When the guard and every villager will be equipped with 8 of those, then start selling of the weakest of rings, and replace them with stronger ones.
this increases the power of an army by what 15-30%?

Sound to me like its a standard normative curve, starting with a bumb at the far left at the lowest quality ranks and gradually moving left as you increase in level, with a larger bump as you rank up. So never a 0% of getting any tier. Even a novice can craft masterlevel, and a master can craft a piece of trash (though said trash would likely have better stats than the novice's master quality item.)

It's lack of schematics. No one knows how to make rings of that caliber, and the forge doesn't extend its abilities for increasing ranks of enchantments to "items" just "weapons and armor". Aleron wrote himself out of the option (a good move on his part I think) of just spamming rings that can progress like that without a engine behind it (a core building)

So the Village does not have a master craftier who tough Richto how to make rings?!
I wanna bet u we do have some sort of an Elf who can make very good health rings?!
Even Richto can make +10 hp rings..
I believe we had to take someone to the initial founding of MV who has this knowledge. Please verify, if you doubt it.

There is a bit of consistency error here. Gloran was supposed to make rings. Instead we have jewelers making rings named Daven.

There has been more than one wave, so the jeweler could have arrived later.

    No. They do not.

He bought the schematic for one ring, and combined it with a spell later. He isn't cranking out 25+ health rings, he lacks the skill and time.

Well jewelers are more about gems than actual jewelry i think (like smiths can use gems for some things, there is likely some overlap)? I mean, we know from book 7 that the right gems, with the right cuts and so on are extraordinarily valuable, as they can be enchanted and used to boost armor, seperately from enchantment and Runes. Given the vast array of different magical gems likely available (at least one if not more for every power) this is one of the three professions we know of so far that Richter needs to create OP armor.

Daven (Jewler) is not able to create rings (items). He is able to cut gems and create the copper ring (component) that is needed to create a Ring of Health (item).

There appears to be no less than 3 skills required to make the Ring of Health. Also, knowing a fortify health enchantment is required.
    1. Gemcraft allows the cutting of gems (common gems are required)
    2. Jewelry allows Daven to create copper rings
    3. Crafting is needed to assemble the components into an item.
The crafter sent by the HM provided several new templates, but we never learned what they are.

About two hours into the festivities, Richter was sitting down at a
table when he caught sight of a familiar redhead making her way through the
crowd. Richter was feeling no pain by this point, and he held a bottle of
moonshine loosely in one hand. He had left the high table long ago, and had
enjoyed a few turns on the dance floor. Now he sat talking to one of the freed
prisoners, Enalise. She was a human who had not one, but two, Professions.
She was both a Miner and a Crafter. He had just about convinced her to give
    him some tips in both.

You have learned the (Item) enchantment: Heal, Level I
    Enchantment Size: 3
    Enchantment School: Life
Effect 1: Heal – Each rank:
    1) Restores 5 Health
    2) Increases the number of times the enchantment can be used per
day. Ratio: 1 use every 4 ranks
Richter was more than happy to have unlocked such a useful
enchantment. His Ring of Healing was still one of the most useful items he’d
ever found. It didn’t restore much health, but it could be used instantly. He
was already envisioning his army equipped with these rings. He had to start
    crafting rings ASAP.

Next came the noncombat Professions. Randy had added in
parentheses when a person had managed to Specialize.

    Crafter
    Burk

The chamberlain handed over another sheet that showed anyone that
had a skill rank of apprentice or higher. Unsurprisingly, there were more than
a few miners that had hit apprentice rank while working in the goblin mines,
though only Enalise had reached journeyman level and gained the Miner
Profession. She also had the Crafter Profession. Several of the other new
villagers also had Professions: Jeweler, Bowyer, Trader, Painter and one
    Troubadour.

And please get a list of what Enalise can
    make with her Crafting Profession

There was also a slight holdup when he asked Enalise for the
Template to make the health rings.
He tried to convince her to share it with
him for free but, after she laughed quite loudly in his face, he ended up
forking over two gold and three silvers. She assured him that he’d gotten a
great price. After he had her sit with Bartle for an hour, the Scholar handed
Richter the newly-created magical document. Richter had his very own
    Template

    You have
    found:
    Template:
    Ring of
    Durability: 7/7
    Template Class: Common
    Template Level: Simple
    Health Weight: 0.3 kg
Traits: This Template allows you to create a Ring of Health
This ring will increase your maximum HP
    Max Enchantment Rank/Level: 1/1
    Requires:
A copper ring (Item Quality: Above Average or better)
A common gem (Jewel Clarity: Eye Catching or better)
    Fortify Health enchantment
    Base Crafting Time: 1 hour

Richter began making enchanted rings as quickly as he could. Devan
was able to make the rings by the dozen and a copper vein had been found
months ago in the iron mine. It hadn’t been overly large, but it was more than
enough to make hundreds of simple bands. The low-level gems were a slight
problem, but not really. The local iron mine had been worked for months and
gems had been found periodically. After Randolphus had instituted
procedures to ensure that the miners didn’t “accidentally” forget to hand the
gems over, the village had started building a small stockpile of cheap jewels.

fter he had made several rings, he found there was another factor he
had to face: the quality of the base materials. His forty-nine skill levels in
Enchanting increased the +5 health boost of his enchantment to a maximum
of +7-8. He found that if Devan made the rings too fast though, the best
quality the man could manage was well crafted or, worse, above average.
That seemed to limit the health each ring could provide to +3-4.
If Richter let him take his time though, Devan made exceptional or
superb rings; Richter could then make rings that gave a +5-6 buff
    .

When he asked the Crafter why he still wasn’t reaching the
enchantment’s full potential every time, she examined his rings and pointed
out places where the script written on the inside of the ring wasn’t quite
    perfect.

    1. So Enalise can make Health rings, why else did she had Health ring template?!
As a crafter professional she should make better rings than Richter.

These are the quotes form Book7, haven't checked previous books.

    2. Say only Richter can make Health rings thats: +10 to health form enchanting, probably
    Devian Exceptional ring is +5-6.
So now we have a ring of +15 to Health.
Add the usage of Nickless monocle. another +5 to Health ring.

    3. Total 8 rings *20hp = 160hp
Which is +16 stat points to CONSTITUTION. Must have for the guard, best case is having switchable rings for different situations.
    4. Haven't looked into previous books, might be the case that we somehow did not have a crafter capable of making +X attribute rings..

The first enchantment restores health, it doesn't increase it.

Fortify health is the one Richter can use with a health ring. The reason she likely creates worse rings than Richter:

His forty-nine skill levels in Enchanting increased the +5 health boost of his enchantment to a maximum of +7-8

Meanwhile, does enalise have more than a basic level in enchanting? Probably not.

The additional points for it being an exceptional or suberp ring are a nice catch. But its 1-2 points difference, not 5. Its also included in the 7-8 which is his max.

As for the monocle we don't know how much of an effect it would have. Its most likely going to boost the bonus from enchanting further, but probably not by 5+ health when Richter only gets +2-3 points as a skillbonus.

Congratulations! You have learned the enchantment Fortify Health, Level I Enchantment Type: Items Enchantment Size: 3 Enchantment School: Life Effect 1: Increase Maximum Health – Each rank gives + 5 Health.

Kong, Aleron. The Land: Predators: A LitRPG Saga (Chaos Seeds Book 7) (Kindle Locations 21515-21520). Tamori Publications, LLC. Kindle Edition.

+ 5 basepoints for one rank 1 enchantment.
+ 4-6 points in total for skill and monocle is my guess.

    Average of + 9 -11 health points.

Should Richter manage to rank it up once more, it won't just add the +5 for rank, it will add 9-11 points once his skill and the monocle are factored in. Which it will continue to do for each rank.

With 8 rings thats 64 - 88 extra health. Per enchantment rank.

    I believe in book 8
Richter has reached lvl like 52-ish in Enchanting or something?!
Also he has bought like some talents for increasing the enchantments power by 25%
I mean I'm calculating the power when he gets back, so he could in theory increase his enchanting lvl by 1 maybe, if hes super lucky.
Missed that its for healing only, still very useful.

Enalise as a specified crafter might have bought a few particular talents regarding healing rings, in that case she could make better rings than Richter.
    f.e.
    Crafter with specialization: jewelry.

Don't miss the point where the enchantmen ranks adds quite a nice bonus. If Richter gets good he might be able to fit a second enchantment on a single ring, doubling the healthpoints. Assuming they can make a ring with enough enchantment slots.

Double rank 3 enchantment for example would be +30 hp for base, another 30 for enchantment. +60 hp pr ring or + 480 hp the equivalent of 48 constitution. Basically giving them the equivalent of what trollmothers give their children through cutting.

Now imagine if they made the rings from elementum...

Daven makes rings (items). I why do you think the rings he makes are not items in their own right?
