A likely token, but also a very likely settlement debuff for losing a core building and likely a much bigger debuff than gained buff upon construction.
That only means build the core building outside of the settlement?!

The land itself would consider that a cheat and you would pay dearly. Something a kin to Ricther eating his own summoned creature.

Plus it’s still super difficult to destroy a core building.

if you destroy a seed core tree, do you get a core token? dude really needs to harvest more of that old tree he got it from.

That would be one of the first things I did when I got back to the village. The golem would make it a lot easier to drag back to the Mist. Then the mist workers could get it.

It could still have living roots as well. At the very least it would be full of magic from the seed cores ambient mana.

I still think he should have groups charged with periodically rechecking those old locations. I could think of a thousand things to do with the failed Hearth Tree. If the inherent magical trees could be grafted with some of the roots FHT roots you might come up with something very useful.

First off, it was a failed hearth tree? I’ve totally forgotten that.
Second, surely someone can do some good with that material in the village. And he could drop a branch or something down the Well.
He absolutely should have groups check old locations (maybe the same group for each location for security purposes) to train them on going through dangerous areas and to make sure lairs don’t develop.

maybe the top of the tree is nearby, just having fallen over. but i assume they would have noticed that.

It is likely around close. Unless it was broke off to be used as a club. Even so the stump was massive. The roots would be the most interesting. The could still yield great things.
