What people seem to be forgetting is there is one fundamental way to get Elementum and that is to trade with the fae realm.

366 gold pieces is a pretty high price per bar. To craft a single short blade requires a bar. Larger or denser weapons would require more, let alone a suit of armor. Decking out someone in elementum would cost thousands of gold.

You also have to consider that rarity is but one aspect of price. With 366 gold pieces you could aquire a lot more of other high end metals and the cost of the elementum bar itself does not consider the cost of turning it into a weapon or piece of armor. If the price increased much further its likely demand would drop because it simply becomes an impractical investment for the lords and kings who have that kind of money to throw after it. Better a full suit of something really good, than a single extraordinary piece that costs enough to equip a small company with all they need. Better a small company of well equipped men than one extraordinarily armed man.

High-levels would still want it, but at that level it needs to compete with tier 2 metals. Plus being highlevel does not mean you can afford to splurge on elementum.

Problems with creating elementum veins were when we only had 2 powers awoken.. that means medium amount of ambient mana..
NOW with all 4 powers awoken we might/should have enough ambient mana to make elementum veins!

Same thing is happening with the beasts in the forest, they are evolving to their tier 2 forms!

Young man.. how much you do know who the f*** are fey???...
its the same as saying that we could make a trade deal with the devils...

I believe fey are the worst of the worst of beings from the folklore books that is.. maybe trade based on threatening their existence with extinction.. could work.. maybe.. probably not.
Fay are not the little fairies.. fay are demonic evil creatures..

    Be Nice Pokey!

    Not all Fey are bad.

Speaking of the cost of elementum in the land.
How much does everyone think a suit of armor cost in the dark ages?

Another thing how relevant is the price of items in the Land compared to the cost of trading in the Fey realm?

Some of them maybe. The seelee and unseele are mostly cruel and capricious. But many of the lesser fae such as brownies are benign.

Granted AK can modify Fey to be better or worse or more grey than black.
Still we will not see the exact alignment of the Fey for a few books probably.

But I still feel same like the attack on the litch, we're underestimating it again..
It's like exploration of a new planet, assuming everything on it does not want to get a bite from you.. hehe

Actually most life is fairly benign. For every predator, there are many, many peaceful plant-eaters. Predators are by nature a tiny minority because its an inefficient, selfish behavior. Its the same for sociopaths and criminals in humans, they are a tiny minority that need the larger society on which they prey to survive. That society on the other hand most certainly does not need them, and does a lot to resocialise or otherwise get rid of its predators.

Predators are inefficient and selfish? I have never thought of lions and wolves as selfish or inefficient.

Lions and wolves are both massively inefficient predators. You know how many hunts they fail on average before succeeding? A lot, prey animals win most hunts. Their problem is the lion or the wolf only has to win once every few days to survive, thereas the prey has to win every single time.

But that wasn't what I meant. Eating another being for food is a self serving behavior, you end its life to extend yours and you take no more than a small fragment of the energy it consumed over its lifetime into you. Due to this inefficiency predator populations are smaller than herbivore populations, they simply have access to less energy. That said, meat is delicious, easily accessible energy for growing big brains, and as omnivores we get to dip into both the herbivore and predator pots. Its one of the keys to our success.

Anyway, I was basically just messing with poke because he raised the age old paranoid fantasy of everything being out to get you. Most nonsentient beings couldn't care less about you, they wouldn't bother to piss on you if you laid dead in front of them, let alone go out of their way to harm you. Sentient beings for all we know act the exact same way.

haha, overestimation is key here. You want to be overly prepared! Say you will bring from the portal 50 bars of elementum right?
Who cares if you have paid 600 gold for 200 Drawven mercenaries right? But if you would have then while the Fey were attacking ur troops you could have looted another 300 elementum bars!

You seem to think of Fey as a few separate Lions right? who sleep half a day.. maybe.
But this is the main difference in our perception I see the Fey as a Empire with multiple Kings, with armies of beasts that use human tactics.. and have waged war for centuries.. So as long as your assumption stands of fighting a few random beasts sure there is only a limited threat, yet if Richto will piss off (most likely by simply existing) a Kingdom of Fey.. he's over his head.

Scouting and stealth should be the way forward, I'd get a few consultations with Hisako/Randy about it too

The fey can be trusted to keep their word to the letter - just be sure to have a lawyer read it over. Hell, put two entirely seperate lawyers on it. Or three, never can be too careful with the fey.

Once the deal is established the fey will give Richter what they have agreed, though i'm unsure what exactly he could offer them in return.

I remember reading about deals like this before.
You make a contract draft with the best lawyers you can find, then hire another lawyers company form another city to review the contract, then hire another company... then you hire a magical lawyers and repeat a few times.
Only then you make a deal lol

    Gigantic Shambhala Town?
Given that Elementum is native to Fey (Feyn?) realms, it stands to reason that Fey realms have a bunch of ambient mana. I'm not interested in discussing flavors, but to sum my view, I think it's literally a difference of what density/ pressure of ambient mana, not what "flavor", is necessary for raw elementum. So beings from a realm of abundant ambient mana likely need that kind of thing to survive, much like other planar creatures, or even Labyrinthine creatures. With the Dungeon specialization giving extra benefits to both ambient mana, and ambient mana refinement, on top of being a PoP, Richter might be in a somewhat minuscule group of individuals able to offer the Fey a vacation spot / residence in the Land, without them getting forcibly sucked back to their own plane of existence.
Just needs to make sure none of them or future (or past, never know with the fey) generations will: harm the village, harm *(physically, mentally, spiritually/emotionally or financially) its residents, harm* visitors in good or neutral standing with the village, Slay the Dungeon Harbinger, claim the item of power associated with the BotCS, nor help nor assist any group of adventurers who seek to do either of the previous things. Alternately, if such a massive deal isn't possible to be struck, he could prevent them from leaving the Dungeon through his Entrance Chamber, effectively limiting them to his Dungeon, the Labyrinth, and any Dungeons they can reach through the Labyrinth, but only do it once the dungeon is like, level 50 or so. Should give him enough of a heads up to find his way in and stop them from conquering the Dungeon, since they could be considered an "always on" threat.

    Interesting points..
MV A-Team going down there with Randy & Hisako should handle stuff easily, it should be simpler than Fey realm..

Well the Labyrinth is definitely more survivable than the fey realm. But fey are tricky.

African Wild Dogs have pretty much the Highest Success Rate in Hunting in Animal World, between 80 - 85% success rate. Great White Sharks about 55%, 30% for the African Lions (full Pride Hunting), Cheetahs have a 58% Success (single individual), and about 20% for Wolves hunting Elk (for full Pack).

You learn something new every day.
It shouldn't be too hard to find something relatively easy to gather in the land, that would hold higher value in the fey realm due to it not occurring there naturally.

Well we know that the dungeon has much better drops now with the adventuring having leveled so much...also the factor of the dark ley line power bonus. What Richter needs is elementum ore. Now that can come from a fey realm or perhaps if he gets more settlement points he can do it that way. He spent Sp's on getting many other ores such as dark stone 1% of the mine if I remember correctly. He could not do some of the choices due to lack of ambient mana. That might have changed by now with the dungeon being level 14 and being connected to the Labyrinth.
