Getting frustrated with myself on this project. I feel like it's coming along a lot slower than the first book.

My head has just been feeling foggy a lot these past few weeks. Maybe it's because I've been messing with my diet? Can't wait until I can do this full time so I can wake up, exercise and then sit down to write for the day. Exercise often helps clear my head and improve overall health, but I just don't have time between my normal job and writing. : /

On top of that I find myself doubting a lot. My alpha readers continue to say I'm producing good stuff, but I feel like a lot of the emotions I want to color the story are being smothered by plot, battles along the way, and advancing the physical journey.

I have a feeling when I finish draft one and go back for revisions I'll be inserting a lot of small scenes where the sole purpose is to kindle and maintain emotional thrust.

((Nobody said it would be easy, mate. For what is worth, and always from a completely personal point of view: when in doubt, exercise, since it helps "getting something done"; and while Endings are hard, and Beginnings are perhaps even harder, pretty much every weak book or movie out there proves that what's REALLY hard is that friggin' Middle; from what you say, you are sort of there, since this is the second book.

So, yeah: it is flippin' hard. Hang in there, and when in doubt, push ups! =))

The write is going better today. I'm already over my average daily word count so hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Thanks.

.... I love my daydreams. I might have to make this a scene in the book.

    Setting: Scary dark dungeon.

Mel: "Shhh! I hear something." Pauses to listen. "Do you hear that?"
    Frobod: "What is it?""
    Pahrem: "It's almost musical."
    Mel: *listens*
Tako: "That's the melody of Funky Town!"

Everyone: *Looks at the rescued prisoner*

Prisoner: "I can't help it! I hum when I'm nervous. Every day! That bastard listened to Funky Town every day. Every hour... of every day!"

Mel: "Wait... You're telling me that big scary vampire guy in all black that pukes up clouds of terrifying darkness is into 70s music?"
    Prisoner: "He loves the disco!"
Tako: Gotta move on... I want you to take me to Funky Town! Funky Town...

Maybe Stayin' Alive is a better disco dungeon reference.

When your foul mouthed goblin offends you, because you don't talk that way in real life.

"If you're goin' down don't suck the root. Ya gotta bite' em' with everything ya got!"

Not sure if that one will make to the final draft or not.

I'm not sure what the aforementioned "root" is, but after reading that I now have shrinkage. Ouch.

    Double meaning. :)

The context is my foul mouth goblin chef rallying a bunch of people to kick ass in a massive PvP battle. The basic theme is, "if you're gonna die, do as much frinkin' damage as you can before respawn."

Writing again, and it's going well.

I had some major, unanticipated personal issues come up that put me off my game for over a month.
