WOOT Good Afternoon Everyone - Aspiring LitRPG Author here :)

Hello!

I'm a former sell-out, that had decided to throw my creative efforts into writing things that would just earn me money. It was fun for a little while, especially seeing the Royalties coming through, but it got to the stage where I felt like I was draining my actual soul.

So, I decided that I wanted to actually write something that I personally enjoy.

Which is what brought me to you lovely people.

I've read dozens of translated novels over on Novel Updates - All to do with either reincarnation or game worlds with virtual reality etc. I've enjoyed them, and to an extent really enjoyed Log Horizon and Sword Art Online.

I feel though that they aren't dark enough, or have enough of a focus on the parallels with the real world. Which is why I'd like to throw my hand at it. So, hopefully I can make friends here and you can all point me in the right direction.

Some random facts about me:
- Irish, living and working full time in Dublin.
- All publishing experience is with shorts in high volumes.
- Serial Procrastinator & Coffee Addict.

Thank you for that, I'll give it a try now.

I just finished the first 3 Books of 'Eden's Gate' by Edward Brody.

So, it's a start into the genre. Feel free to keep throwing suggestions at me.

 

I quite like Rags to Riches.
City Building is something I really enjoy reading about, or Guild creation / advancement through ranks or up the pecking order.
I'm not a big fan of Mary Sue / OP MC, or the one-dimensional character that is solely driven by money / revenge etc.

Does that make any story come to mind?

Oh, and Pirates? I'd like to read about Pirates.

I'm pretty sure my first LitRPG will heavily focus on Pirates.

I don’t know, honestly. I try to write but I reach a point where I just can’t communicate what I want to say. It’s frustrating.

 

If I were in a LitRPG, I’m sure I’d get a prompt saying that my skill in Writing is too low.
That, or I’m a dumbass. Either is possible.

 

If it makes you feel better, every time I sit down to write something... I accidentally write something steamy out of habit.

Erotica to LitRPG is proving to be a hilarious move.

I refuse to make it an Erotic LitRPG.

I WILL BE A SERIOUS WRITER!

Oh, and because I'm terrible at picking up hints... should I assume you would be interested in Pirate story?

This is my thing too, City Building/Guild Creation, Rags to Riches. I haven't found a quality one in the eastern market though that I can remember (I'm only now reading more western LitRPG, my influences were always web novels/light novels/ Xianxia). The ones I found the MC is OP because of cheats, he knows where to get the best land, etc. so its boring. I've read good things about Ascend Online and it also has amazing reviews on Amazon, so that's the next one on my reading list.
