I would like to see some dense metal forging skills used with Ebony. Four ingots forged into one? That would make for one bad mace.

I think the should take anything they can get. There’s no need to be too picky.

But if Krom becomes the leader of his clan he could still order them all around. If he becomes a king that would definitely change things as he wouldn’t be able to operate the forge and rule his people.

Unless it's for someone who's Very Strong might be better using Dense Metal Forging on a Strong but Light Weight Metal, say something like QuickSilver if they have enough of it.
Might also be interesting to see what might happen if it's done with Elementum if Richter ever gets a larger enough supply to be worthwhile experimenting with some.
Experimenting with making an Alloy of Elementum, Glass and True Silver might be interesting as well.

This makes me wonder about dense forging moonstone. So when dense forging four ingots into one how does that affect other properties besides weight?

We know that moonstone is a good metal for magic. If four ingots are dense forged do you get Four Times the magical abilities?

Probably proportional to the bonus in defence if anything, but i'm not so sure it has a direct magical effect. Instead it raises base damage, which is almost as good.

    Yeah, that was iron ingots.

    CORRECTION!

    He did use moonstone.

Moonstone did not inhibit magic users.

You have found: Dense High Steel Dagger.

    Damage: 13-17
    Durability: 145/145
    Item Class: Uncommon.
    Quality: Exceptional.
    Weight: 3.7 kg.
Traits: +10% damage vs. spell barriers.

Richter had learned many things about smithing in the past few weeks and was surprised by the weapon’s stats. Its weight, damage, and durability were all much higher than they should be. Krom had taught him that simple daggers had a base damage of four to six. The type of metal used to construct a weapon added to that base damage. High steel, for example, added one point to either damage or defense. It was that adjusted base damage that was affected by a smith’s skill. Each skill level someone had in Smithing gave another 1% to the durability and the damage or defense of a forged item. The last thing that affected a weapon’s damage stats was its quality. A trash quality item, for instance, decreased the final numbers by 40%, while an exceptional quality item increased damage by 30%.

Richter did some quick calculations. A high steel dagger should have a base damage of five to seven. If Bowdin was skill level forty-four, he should improve the dagger’s base damage and durability by 44%, bringing the damage up to seven to ten. With the fact that it was exceptional quality, then the damage should have been nine to thirteen. Whatever the dwarf’s Dense Forging subskill did, it had added another 40% to the weapon’s damage potential! Even better, there weren’t any requirements listed. That meant Richter’s characteristics must have been high enough that he could use the blade without any loss of speed.

Imagine if they had a better quality schematic. A base 8-11 damage t3 knife would be epic.

Bowdin beamed with pride, “Every ten levels of me subskill will add to the base damage of the blade. The amount added depends on the metal I be using. Moonstone gives plus four base damage, so every level of me subskill adds point oh four to the damage.
