Anyone recommendations? I just read the Parasite Eve novel that inspired the game, and was looking for more). Please no "Five Nights" fanfics.
It was ok - the ideas were very interesting, but it feels like the novel didn't push them in an interesting way. It was very slow burning, but not in a suspenseful way. At any rate, a horror LitRPG seems like it would have a lot of potential. Movies like some of the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, Scream, and Cabin in the Woods have used the characters' awareness of participating in something with genre conventions to good effect in a way similar to a LitRpg MC would, and especially if the horror is not confined to the game but leaks into the "real" world (like eXistenZ), or the game somehow opens into an actual hellish dimension - it has a lot room to good some good scary stuff.
Yeah - damn, I just now saw how horrible it is on the news. And it looks like there's another storm forming behind it
I haven't read any horror LitRPG's. The sequel to my book, Apocalypse 2020, is going to have a lot of horror elements (similar to The Thing). If you want to read something similar to Parasite Eve, I'd recommend the Resident Evil novel series by S.D. Perry. They're goofy, but follow the games surprisingly well and I find them super-fun.
Thanks, Paul and I'm doing just fine! And yes I have what @George Fisher calls an excellent Horror LitRPG which is my take on the Resident Evil series and it has a fresh storyline, but remains faithful to the game mechanics. I'm working on the third book in the series and I'm taking the game mechanics even further now including the ECG health meter. Here is the link to my book series and it's less than $2. Plus it has many great reviews, also I will be donating 75% of my sales to those people in Puerto Rico who were affected by the storm. So it's for a good cause. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074ZDK8GQ/
That's good! I lived in Fl. back when Floyd came through. Had some major property damage after that sucker.
