I made a list of things that excite me about LitRPG, and by all means it is not comprehensive. I hope that you can add your own likes to this list, and that maybe some may take inspiration from it when authoring their next LitRPG novel. Love always, Felicity - Character Creation - AI Girlfriends/Boyfriends - In-Game Girlfriends/Boyfriends - Outside the box thinking - Hidden Quests - Intuitive, meaningful crafting - How game immersion affects real life. Muscle gain, weight loss, accelerated learning which leands to intelligence boost, confidence. - Guilds - Game wide quest events - Unlocking new races - Individuality; standing apart from others - Beta testing - Class customization - new takes on classes like 'Judge' - In-game contest which rewards RL prize! - Streaming gameplay - Love houses to hint/tease at sensual acts in-game - How near future RL compares to now RL especially techwise - Gods interaction - All powerful dieties who represent different aspects of human nature - Special titles - Unexpected outcomes, going against the grain ie End Online npc assigning Lost his name and negative, soul-bound skill - figuring game mechanics out - The sales pitch of the VR company
That's a great list. I agree with all but the VR sales pitch. I admit I can't think of one that has stood out and been memorable. Which books have had your favorite?
To answer your question about pitch, I was most impressed by a short story titled Cupid's Compass by Leah Cypess from the Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine. It's not virtual reality, but it is about manipulating the brain with future tech.
