I think that was Sumico's spell which means it is a spell of life magic which was inhibited by the mausoleum.

I was talking about when HM taught Richter the unaligned magic spell. She created birds that sang and then the pixies joined in.

Also, Richter could have at least tried to use simple and far light to see when he was getting close to hitting the ground with the mauler, then jump off of it and activate cloud running to not die on impact.

He did this exact thing in the caves a little while later

Edit: might have saved black ice and his armor and allowed him to find a tunnel before the pillar collapse.

Yeah i'll see you take pictures on your first bungee jump or thinking things through coherently before i'll blame Richter for failing to act. Most have one thought even when they logically know they are perfectly safe, namely "I'm gonna die, splat, burst like a freaking melon hit with a 20 pound sledgehammer by a level 80 mountain dwarf, shit, shit, shit.... i'm gonna die, splat etc." while falling. Richter meanwhile did not have a rope and was on top of a giant monster blocking his line of sight.

Yeah but unlike you and me he can basically fly, that would change your perspective a bit. Maybe its something he needs to practice to get good at.

Not saying it would have worked, but he basically went suicidal for that scene and i think he might have still had options.

Its also a factor that the entire cavern basically collapsed. They were buried underground.

    He had plenty of options:
    • dungeon transport while the portal was still open!!
    • climb down the still standing columns!!! or slide down...
    • Summon the spider, evolve it and ride it down the column(Im da best or wha!!)
    • Use the spider as a hold to climb down. Spider climbs down, you hold the column and stand on the spider at the same time.
    • hide in the coffin? It has survived one fall should survive another one?
still cloud running is a great idea! though he should measure the depth of the cave by throwing some big rock down. and based on that calculate when he needs to jump

    1) Out of range.
    2) He was on the creature falling, how would he get on a pillar?
    3) Same as 2)
    4) same as 2)
    5) What coffin? He was on the mauler XD

I wouldn't expect most of those to work. But he should have used dungeon transport on all 3 of them. Maybe he didn't think he had time to cast it before the explosion, but he definitely had time after. I would think that it should work as long as the portal is open.

10 miles from any portal leading to the village he'd be able to teleport to the Dungeon?

The only possible escape was the portal, but it had remained in the exact same spot in space where it had originally opened. A spot that was now several hundred feet above their heads.

I'm pretty sure the spell has at least a several hundred foot range.

Sorry about the 10 miles thing, i was mixing local portals into it. Its domain only. So far that seems to be above ground, but it might spread to regions he conquers in the deeps or catacombs?

Yea, and I definitely made assumptions about the dungeon transport spell. I figured it had a literal range rather than being limited to the village itself.

You have to be within the MV Domain, basically within the range of the Confusing Mists, and it only extends that far because Richter is the Master of the MV and the Dungeon Master.

I'm talking about before He jumped off a cliff.
After the jump only option 1 was available.

    Before suicide:
    1. hmm the "Mist Domain" limitation saved you this time
    2. 3. 4. columns were standing, shaking, but still standing, so climbing them down was possible. adding visual aid:
Coffin Again Im talking about before jumping off the cliff.
Also why not Kill the mauler When it climbs on the area??? Maybe after killing it, surely after killing we would get a labyrinth reward pimped out to the max.. say a teleportation scroll. or a flying carpet! Richto is lucky.
One of many things that could in theory help is summoning the spider -> evolving it and demanding it to make you a spider silk net/flying wing/batman suit.. to reduce the falling speed to bellow 200 kmh.. then in theory Richto could see the ground and could jump to a stop??

It could be really beneficial to have a summoned beast that can fly! or such a spell!
Ghosts can fly, Richto has the chaos spell.

Hmm so avg terminal velocity is 200kmh, if u have some skill/brains to increase youre air resistance/surface like a skydiver suit, then terminal velocity goes down to 160kmh.

If you land on "compressible" landing area with terminal velocity of 200kmh than you need at least 0.5 meters of compressible landing are, like plowed field, hey, snow, maulers body etc..

However holding onto the Maulers body would increase youre terminal velocity.
Still Richter is very strong, fast and resilient.

In conventional skydiving, people rapidly reach a terminal velocity of 120mph (192km/h). But in a wingsuit, the best flyers can reduce the vertical rate of descent to around 40mph (64km/h) while significantly boosting their forward speed. "Skydiving feels like falling, mostly," says Harper. "But in a wingsuit it doesn't feel like you're falling because you can really feel your forward speed. And the faster you go the better lift you get: you really do feel like you're flying."

so say richto makes the spider to make him a makesshaft "Wingsuit" from spiders silk..
And Richto hits the Ground @ 60kmh cause superhuman... he should in theory easily be able to cloudrun, no?also you with a wingsuit can come on an angle in a landing

So If Richto is plummeting @200kmh with sight in the dark that is like not sure 50 feet~ 15.2 meters not in re***d units. lol sryy had to do it
This means Richter will see the ground ~0.95s before slamming into it... maybe he can make it to jump
if ricter sees the land in 2s.. he can easily land.. so he should try to increase his surface area

Also Randy was completely under-utilized in this strike mission. He would have been an asset on par with Yoshi.

He is a politician and chamberlain who occasionally adventures, not a general or champion. In addition, he wants his true name and nature to remain hidden, something Richter has agreed to respect.

There was little he could have done that any of the other master mages in the village couldn't have done, yet they were left behind with far less reason given, with the exception of zar.

What other master mages? Tsumiko is the only orher one and her magic wouldnt have worked there. Randy may not be as valuable in war, but this was a targeted strike. He could have snuck in and taken out the most powerful few attackers while they were engaged with yoshi. Or just stepped in, unleash a few of his most powerful spells. Make some nice ice barriers, then carry a few wounded back.
