Hi guys, I was wondering whether there are such stories around. Game developers and their issues with building/testing/balancing the game. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much!
Awaken Online has sections presented from the POVs of the devs. And... I'm not sure, but I think @Jun 's Freehaven Online also has something to do with the idea? I feel like dungeon core stories are a bit like that, although you only design dungeons. Sorry this is probably not much help, since I haven't read that much myself.
My MC was an employee of the company that makes the game so she has some insight, but the company is very compartmentalized so a lot of content experienced in the game she had no hand in making. She did skinning modeling and animations, a few times in the story she mentions that she had no part in assigning stats etc.
Temple of Sorrow by Carrie Summers might qualify. The main character is a woman playing the fully immersive VR game, but the most important secondary character is the man who designed one of the AIs that run everything. He's freaking out because some players are experiencing far too much pain and others are going into comas. He's in contact with the MC and his quest to figure out what's wrong with the game is an important subplot.
Started reading an excerpt of it, and it's one of the best things I've read so far. I might check this out when I have the scratch.
Sounds like a fun concept. Maybe this could go in some kind of stickied request page for listing ideas everyone likes that writers can just use?
