This is a question that has been cropping up more and more as we get new members for little niche (at least in my neck of the woods) and it did get me thinking. Wasn't it the Russians who first coined the term? And hasn't it been said the past that the translation would go better along the lines of Chic-Lit, Lad-Lit, etc?

I don't know, but the more I think about it, the more RPG-Lit makes sense.
Role-Playing Game Literature works as a genre title.
Literature Role-Playing Game sounds like a book that is an RPG.

I know it's a bit late in the game, but it's something to think about.

RPG-Lit sounds like something the Modernists would call their version of it. Something highfalutin' enough to pass the muster of academia, but still carry the full weight of the Modernist demand to completely disservice its audience.

Yeah, I think it's too late to stem the tide. That said, I think there's room in the genre for many different interpretations of LitRPG...

LitRPG flows off the tongue better than RPG-lit anyway.

Kinda like how my standby "wuhtuhfuh" and "gitfo" flow better than doubleyou tee eff (WTF) and gee tee eff oh (GTFO), respectively.

I like calling it RPG-Fi, like Sci-Fi only better haha. Using literature in a book genre always seemed redundant to me.

You could have RPG-non-Fi too. Its like a play by play of a twitch cast, uh maybe I should shut up before that actually becomes a thing.
