The mental Mindscape and conflict that has occured reminds me of The Gam3. Though without any information on energy for the constructs. Has anyone read that series? Or does anyone else know of Mental Kombat from another series that is similar? Spoiler: Mental Kombat!!
It might be taken from there. Its not an unknown concept as i've seen it done a few places. For example there is a light novel where the main character has the ability to reset to a safe point. Being one of the rare good mc, he uses it for the benefit of others as well as himself. I believe he is a spirit user of some kind. Anyway, at one point he fights a mental battle against a geas - I think, may have been a demon- to free a mindcontrolled harem member. They both summon mental constructs to throw at each other.
It could also be something Aleron has made up on his own. The concept of the mind as a fortress is as old as dirt in fiction. Building mental walls and so on are common tropes in fiction dealing with psionics and mindcontrol. This simply takes that concept and transforms it for litrpg.
One of the interesting concepts of The Gam3 is the mental settlement world building. He and some other players had energy requirements and could purchase or research tech, kind of like Richter's actual settlement building. There is also a overpowered companion that can fight during the mindscape battle.
Aleron and thus Richter seems to be stretching his concentration and development then. So I do not know if we will see much more development in the mental landscape.
I've read the first couple books. It was pretty fascinating. Is it me or is it odd that so many people want settlement building litrpg yet fewer and fewer settlement building games where they themselves are the builder are made? Its been years since the last really good rts game. I had hoped settlers 8 would be great, but apparently they pulled the plug on that. Sighs.
There are a bunch of browser or app based settlement building I'm sure. Probably because the best ones have already been made, idk.
Every single one of which are cashgrab trash. I've tried enough of them to know that there is no strategy element to them. Just endless clickfests that require no skill, no engagement and no strategy.
Well are there no community mods for the old games? Maybe a port over to your current system. I guess it depends if you want human competition or computer competition or solo play.
All of the above. I do play some older games, it just strikes me as weird. I suppose it takes a bit more intelligence to make a good rts/ citybuilding game than it does to crank out a murderhobo game
I like the idea of Richter doing Mental Research & Constructions Mind Techniques to help him to create useful (although mostly only basic Passive effect, possibly a few very weak basic Active one's) MindScape Construct Buildings for Skill/Ability like Passive effects.
So, so many re-skins of the same castle builder game. They’ll have advertisements showing random footage and then the game itself is nothing like that.
Well how about this. You write a story of yourself playing your dream settlement building game, flush out the mechanics and then we will all read it to flush out anything. Then you can make the actual games based on the book.
Oh i've considered writing several times, but i'm a very dry vit. That can be fun, but its mostly a longwinded way of writing and speaking which suits litrpg poorly.
Writing is to entertain as much as it is for personal satisfaction. Should I write a citybuilder I would likely do a system similar to what we see in the majesty game or god of gnomes, meaning the god or ruler has no direct control over units but can only attempt to guide indirectly. It would probably be very similar to god of gnomes as she hits most of the right notes. Underdog race, no cheats, real consequences and costs for survival, and only one really significant lucky break at a dramatic moment. The god core does her best to shield her people from war with another godcore and its race, but ultimately they are responsible for their own defense. From book 2, exodus of gnomes
Ak most def stole mindscape from the gam3. pretty sad though... not sure .. kinda expected more.. maybe a training area.. to think, plan, contemplate... analyze.. stop time.
Its funny when Aleron was trying to figure out the boxes for his Stat sheets I kept telling him to call that author. Both him and I shot the dude so many emails asking for help on how he did his layout, but he never answered.
