I read an opinion that this was what a Star Wars solo movie should be like. Trailer looks interesting.

I don't know what to think of this trailer. It looks like a very odd mix of low budget sci-fi drama and high budget CG (for the backgrounds).

Plus there's lots of running around and shooting with weird guns.

This trailer looks exactly like genre fiction should be.

Use the trappings and tropes of a genre to HELP tell a story about deeply human themes.

The story is not about the setting, but the setting is essential to the story.

This story looks like it is about greed, fear, bravery, and survival. It could be set in nearly any place or time. I think that's a quality of good fiction in any medium and/or genre.

Yeah, I feel the same way. It's the same "epic panning shots + obviously telling the audience 'It's The Futureā„¢' with-no-subtlety action sci-fi" that we've seen many times before, but it certainly gets the job done. I'd watch it!
