I mean, they were supposed to be extinct but i guess that was in the Land, the Labyrinth may be a whole different kettle of fish.
It's likely that Pixie's also continued to Exist in other Worlds as well. We might even see them in Telos(Gods Eye) at some time. They might even have had versions of Pixie's in other Realms & Planes connected to The Land as well?
Magical, sapient diseases don't stop though, so would it have allowed pixies to survive in the labyrinth or on other worlds, or would it have kept hunting till the supply of food ran out?
If it couldn't get to them it would have eventually died off, and it's likely that those Pixie's that were close enough to The Land to enter it would have not just stopped going to it but made it completely Forbidden to either enter or leave The Land, total isolation and lock down that's probably still in effect. Plus there's probably still countless Worlds that have never even heard of The Land and had no way off getting to there that have Pixie's on them.
Wouldn’t that very important tree die if the pixie died? Or when the HM died the pixie would likely go insane? Etc.
It is an excellent reason why they wouldn't. If they don't though then their fate is tied to the tree but if someone gets close enough to threaten the tree, they've pretty much broken the settlement and the pixies will be part of the last line of defences. Sure, the royal becomes a weak link for the tree, but i don't see them venturing beyond the settlement any more than Elora has. If they do, they'd likely have the Hearth Mother, Yoshi and any number of other powerful figures ensuring their protection. The Hearth Mother also has that helpful ability to bring back the recently dead which could serve as a nifty cheat to revive the tree if the worst should happen. Plus, the pixies resolve to follow their bonded sprites into battle means we're likely to see a lot more of them go abyssal over time. A royal going that way would probably be much worse, especially if it bled over to affect the tree, so her dying with the tree is sort of a preferable option.
Really good points! They probably would stay nearby but I bet the local range is ginormous. The increase in abyssals is a scary thing.
Its a sapient desease, meaning its intelligent. I don't think it would just die out so easily. I wouldn't be surprised if it shows back up.
It was described as a Magical Disease not a Sapient one, while a Sapient disease is considered the worst/Most dangerous type but it has not been said that the Disease that killed off the Pixie's was one. So it may have been or may not have been one.
