Abe was an apprentice tavern keeper in his parents inn in a small village on the edge of the Big Woods and the Great Plains. Here caravans would stop and change mounts or split up for different destinations. Some would spend the night before the next leg of their journey. Abe like many youths was dissatisfied with the idea of taking over in his father’s footsteps running the tavern. Every chance he got he would play the game. In the game he was part of the crew of an interstellar generation colony ship called the ‘Gum Shoe’. Now, he is being told by the village shaman, that the game is more real than he thought, it is in fact, a higher reality more real than his village life.
