Add an outline to the series, maybe in black to help it as well.
The red actually hurts my eyes to look at on that cover.

Haha, then you would not have liked the other cover I made. It was mainly red lettering.

    why blue?

it might be more eye catching in monochrome

I actually started going that route, and I might go back to it. Its because the main dragon is black/blue, so midnightish coloring.

It's still a work in progress, so any other feedback? I'll try out different things and see what happens.

Oh and the bestest news ever... I finish the first draft. I did end up cutting another 10k out of the end, just because I felt like if I didn't end it shortly after the big scene, I would have to build up another plot line to end it on. So.. I will probably make up more story in the beginning to get her more accustomed to the game (well the reader more than her). I will say this story is leaning more towards GameLit than LitRPG, but I still have a lot of work editing, so we will see what happens at the end.

well for the cover I like the first one you posted (second try?) and in the small thumbnail it looks good and distinct, I'd say consider darker colours for the background to make it stand out more. the second one with the golden dragon emblem looks off with too many things clashing (the red and golds look weird over the plain blue)

also it's way too close to this book

You work fast by the way, I'm jealous! Takes me forever to write a single paragraph. Gamelit or litrpg, who cares so long as it's a good read right :D

I have to disagree that they covers are too similar. Color, font and more are different, the dragons are different as well eastern vs western.

Good points. And yea, definitely trying to keep in line with western dragons. My Wyverns are actually closer to the eastern dragon, but they are like water serpents.

I like the first cover too, so I'll try to tweak it some more and see what I can do with it. Those covers only took about an hour or two to build, so there are some mistakes, like the shadowing is not great. I'm thinking a more charcoal color might make the blue tribal looking lines stand out more too. I will probably ditch the red and change up the colors to be more hues of blue. And like DJ said, add some shadowing to the sub title.

Honestly, unsure. Editing might take me a month or more. This time I want to use alpha/beta readers too. I'm hoping by mid December (or earlier), but that largely depends on how much my day job and family life interfere. I thought about just taking a week off work and focusing on editing, but we will see.

I think you are going to like the changes and her growth haha. I'm picturing these scenes in my head and am like, damn she's f'n nuts, but she is a total bad ass. Even the showdown at the end did not go the way I pictured it, Boh had a mind of her own haha. Can't wait to see what you think.

better, nice and clean. a few notes

    1. you can go darker with the grey background. it'll cause the emblem and the author name to pop.
    2. did you remove the eyes? something seems to be cut out from there. if so you might want to consider adding glow there. with the darker background it'll look nice
    3. Smooth the edges inside the eyes.

that one looks evil! I like it!

The eyes you might have to work on, without the full yellow it gave the cover a more of a skeletal look.

I tried darker colors first, but they just blended in too much, might try a few others before I go live with it. Like Green or even white,

Also some text might change, based on some feedback I might use Book 1: Dragonrider's Fury, or drop the book number altogether.

And I think I'm going to use this tagline on all future books: An Odditek Online Series, to indicate virtual or game world.

I'll let it simmer for a week, need to get a ton of editing done.

What if you added a red/orange gradient fading to black on both edges to the background. Center the gradient behind the dragon design so it looks like a burning background. The bright color would contrast with the dark colors and help the design to stand out more.
