The main sources of magic for the Land.

To make things interesting this poll is for your call on the highest number of ley lines present in a naturally occurring convergence of ley lines, or Place of Power.

Facts about ley lines we know so far.

When 2 or more ley lines converge they form a Place of Power. These convergences can be claimed with a naturally forming Heart crystal that appears at the center of this convergence. It is a powerful boon for people who already have affinities above 50% for all the requisite powers that comprise the PoP.

Advancing powers in a Place of Power, allows them to be more forthright with the master eventually (especially with a Dungeon in the mix). It also dumps more ambient mana into the surrounding areas, making rarer plants and deadlier, higher level beast and animals, and other fauna. It also gives the Master of the place powerful abilities.

They are the source of magic for the Basic Elements. [Other magics may have fonts or wells (to be seen or heard of as of yet) but they are the basic elements because they have ley lines]

Ley lines/ the powers they represent are cognizant, but it was said they are cognizant in a way that Richter /we don't have the capacity to understand.

Ley lines can move. We have absolutely no idea how or why they might move (force, coercion, temptation, natural movement etc) but they do move.

Here I am about to write about Leigh Lines and your advertisement services is giving me a book about that very topic...I need to clear my cache. Maybe it has some insight into why we are getting more than 2 Lee Lines so often. Maybe it has something to do with the mandala and that some lines attract each other. Or as simple as power attracts power.

 

I feel like the options of +8 or >8 needs to be available too.

that could be a possibility, and is better than anything I have. Are there different Life Lay Lines? If HT and MV were on different lines, would she have been more cautious with casting that growth spell? idk, but it is a possibility that i think should be left open.

 

I think that should be a different thread. "are leylines contiguous" or some such. It would also cover the PoP abilities debate from the last forum.

 

Are there only ley lines for the basic elements? Or are the deeper magic ley lines just fewer and in between.

It's possible that Lay Lines of the same type usually Repel Each Other, similar to Magnets of the same Polarity, or maybe they don't? Not enough information about them yet.

 

Its been theorized that they'd have some form of representation, power founts perhaps.


But:

the deeper powers are connected to creatures, not the Land. Blood, Mind and Soul. It makes sense to me that they wouldn't be represented as directly.

Shadow is essentially a dimensional/planar magic.

The higher powers are part of everything, so it would make sense for them to have the occasional representation. I doubt they would have leylines, but pop dedicated to them is a definite possibility. Maybe such places can even be created/ were created by the ancients?

I/we understand that there should only be 8 ley lines, but it seems at least one person would choose >8 if it was an option. unless there are not enough options left for it.

Since we have seen examples of opposite ley lines in places of power as well as neighboring ley lines I see no reason why you couldn't have all 8. Also, I vote no on having 2 or more of the same kind. I like the magnet or merging river idea. Either way works.

Is the logic that 4 is the max because it is the highest we have seen so far? Sorry it I missed the explanation somewhere else.

 

No, just a limitation of power.

I could see a 8 power PoP, but pretty much only 1 per continent maximum. Maybe even just 2 total.

 

Also the requisite requirement to have high affinity in all 8 basic elements would make true Masters few and far between.
