I think there are supposed to be additional nearby tribes in addition to the kindir and at least one or two, I assume, are in the area covered by the mists. How do they function with the mists covering their village or at least the area around it?

Maybe a kindir stopping by can help them out but what do they do until then? How did the kindir get back home or out of the mists when they appeared? How did they find the kindir trying to visit after the mists showed up but before they got the salve? Etc.

Well who is to say the kindir have found all those of their kin that were outside the village? Could have taken days with search parties. But kindir are wanderers, they definitely carry provisions with them and likely can live off the land in nearly any environment. Their near immunity to poisons and toxins mean they can safely eat or drink most plants, insects, critters, etc. they find.

As for the other tribes, some magic users can resist the effects of the mist. Might be some settlement protection as well.
Some like dryads do not need to leave their settlement to get the food and water they need.

We don't know enough about the 3 remaining tribes to say how they might have survived. For all we know they diden't survive and the kindir never realized.

I was sure it said there were four minor tribes out there.

A few is sometimes taken as 3, or 3+. Honestly with only a 10 mile radius I wouldn't be surprised if there were only three more, be pretty hard to fit more than that in the current domain I'd think without tripping over them left and right

it adds up to 314 square miles.

Mind you, the kindir never say those tribes are within the mist, just in the area.

Which is big don't get me wrong, but since the village is in the center that basically negates 2effective miles of radius, where constant patrols and entry and egress would almost have to see these other settlements. Leaving around 200 square miles in the donut section of what's left. Not that there can't be more than 4, but after about 6 it's the opposite of diminishing returns that they find someone of someplace while out scouting the mists, or at least evidence of them. With the kinder found that can also significantly reduce the search area, though not as effectively or as large and area as the MV, assuming they won't provide Intel before the third party agrees to meet.

    Also that

Lots of options if they are within the mists. Avian and subterranean races were discussed in a different thread and there's always a water-based or non-visual race possibility that uses sonar or some other method for sensing their surroundings. If it's outside the mist but near the kindiir that puts them closer to where the bugbears are active and more incentive for them to get some protection.

The Confusing Mists don't just effect the Eye's but also th he Mind, so even Beings that use other Senses then regular Eye's to see things (like Sonar, Tremer Sense, Bio-Electrical Vision, ect) will still be effected, although quite possibly somewhat less so(?).

One potential area would be the mountains immediately to the north of the village. For all Richter knows there could be a big tribe of isolationist trolls or stone giants living up there. No one has scouted the mountains thus far, we don't even know whether its easily accessible from a different direction. Could be a trail with handguards that even a blind man can follow.

Do we know they haven't been scouted? The dwarves seemed like they'd have been keen on it after he gave them all the permission to see in the mists.

I'll admit it's definitely a lot harder though and way easier to miss something going through them.

Considering the Kindr snitched like 5s after meeting Richto about the sap to be able to see in the mists.. I see no reason why they did not "share" same info to everyone else. Other guesses might be subterranean, underwater, or some sort of magical being who have natural protection against illusion magic.. Perhaps certain enchanted amulets protect from it. But Kindr snitching seems the most viable option. Already snitched to Richto & the bugbears.. lol
I do hope we can upgrade the mists at lvl 2.. or extend them so that this intel would leak "less"

Yes but will anyone be able to see in the mists when the next village defenses are unlocked. Sion should now have that ability.

Dude five minutes under a professional torturer's loving hands and you'd be screaming every secret you ever knew. So would i. So would the vast majority of humans.

3 out of 4 kindir died rather than talk, which means they are a lot tougher than we are :)

Shinecatcher shared the fact that they had a secret, but that was pretty obvious. Not much of a loss.

Richter cleared out their property from an undead infestation and saved their people. In return they graciously gave him a recipe that is completely useless to him, apart from curiosity. The elders then talked him into bribing them for the privilege of having them as vassals and effectively giving them citizenship in the new nation.

    Tldr
The other tribes definitely know the kindir have a way to resist the mist. But the kindir won't hand out the recipe wily nilly.

Sure kinder might have traded for the secret or exchanged it for favors.
If we off all the bugbears or at least those who know alchemy.. then the secret should be safe again.

Might not need to do much more than off the local commander Grim'ault. He seemed like the kind of genius who would keep the recipe close to the vest so no one can steal his thunder.
