Is this a new CBS series? Or, was the premier shown last night and the rest of the series will be online? I'm a little confused by the way they describe it.
As far as I know, CBS broadcast the 1st episode (or Part 1) for free, ended it on a cliffhanger and then you have to subscribe to watch the 2nd (and the rest, which have not yet been broadcast). Lucky for us not living in the US it is being shown on Netflix.
If it isn't on the streaming services I already have, I'll just move on to something else. There's already a ton of stuff to watch on what we get with the Roku for me to put in any effort.
All Access has a free trail period. I am assuming they are going to keep the episodes up and i can do the trial period later. We'll see if it pans out. For those watching, keep letting us cheapskates know if it's worth a few bucks
I enjoyed the first two episodes, or the 'prologue' as the writer calls it. The amount of world building and main character setup they do in those two episodes is crazy. It sets the stage for a war, a rogue half-Vulcan, who may have been able to stop the upcoming war if she had not been stopped. Yes very much dark and grim, but I am engaged fully. Can't wait for the next episode. On another note, I really like Orville too, the Star Trek ... spoof? Not sure what you call it, but its actually pretty good. I was expecting more humor considering who is the captain, but was a little more on the serious side for him.
I'm gonna wait til it's a few more episodes in and then see what the consensus is. I have enough Trekkie friends to let me know if it's worth watching or not . . . I really hope it is, fingers crossed. Right now I mostly see the squeaky whiners (the Klingons look too different! there's too many wimmens and brown peoples!) and I figure they'll stfu by then. And yeah, I'm going to have to pirate it too because, y'know, third world country.
I'd be willing to pay to watch it, I think, but I want to wait until all the episodes are up, as I doubt I will watch anything else on the service.
I hate the All Access requirement, though if you think about it, that means the first season is about $18 (plus you get all the other shows, which I have access to anyway via Cable). I've paid $20-35 for TV shows via Amazon. So, I just grabbed the first month to see how I'd like it. Thus far, I'm really enjoying it. I have some problems with the character's actions, though it sets the season up. There's external goals/conflict, and an internal struggle. Should be interesting.
Well I signed up for CBS All-Access, but couldn't get through the first episode because the stream kept stopping and starting every five seconds or so. My internet sucks where I live 3Mbs, but I can watch Youtube, Netflix, and Hulu no problem. Guess I'll be watching Star Trek through some other means. At least I didn't have to pay for the first week.
I was watching the 3rd episode last night. During the last 5 minutes of the show, it was doing the same thing to me. I have 220 megabit connection. I hope they resolve their server problems if they are going to force everyone to get CBS All Access. With that said, I did enjoy the show. I hope you're able to see it. Maybe give it another try and see if it works.
On the second episode. Liking it so far. Interesting they're not going with one-off episodes like most (all?) other Star Trek shows.
Each episode has its own story, though yeah, they run together a lot more than previous Star Trek iterations. I've liked it a lot and look forward to each Sunday to watch it.
I agree, the series is excellent. Fair warning, the first two episodes are more like a prologue. USS Discovery does not enter into the picture until the third episode.
I love trek, and this has been one of my fav eps so far. "What are you doing here?" "THIS IS MY MIND."
