That's not due to alignment, its just that most of the races that enjoy raiding their neighbors for gigles (aka races that are evil by nature) we have seen so far have been goblinoids. Goblinoids don't seem to live much longer than humans, but they are said to have high fertility. Other evil races such as drow and duergar live as long as their counterparts which is balanced by those races having low fertility. That's true for sprites as well. Pixies are an odd race as they have both high fertility and presumably lifespans long enough to match their sprite counterpart. On the other hand, regular pixies cannot learn skills. Which I guess means they cannot use anything apart from the most basic of weaponry, armor and mounts. Checks and balances. ¨ Many of other races have an advantage in lifespans and extra stats per level. Humans on the other hand have the advantage of breeding several times faster, allowing them to much more easily rebuild their population after a war as well as far more rapid expansion. At the same time humans have managed to mostly avoid the mindset of the goblins where everyone is expendable and everyone had better keep an eye on everyone else. As individuals other races often have the better deal, but there is a reason humans dominate so much of the eastern river peninsula as a race.
If they can’t learn skills could they really learn how to fight? Not wearing shoes it wouldn’t matter if they ever know how to tie them. Even so walking, talking, running, and flying would all be skills wouldn’t they?
Those are natural abilities for the pixies. Walking and talking may be skills, but they are not universe-enhanced skills which was what I meant. The pixies have their blasts which i'm fairly sure is basically the same thing as the sprites enhanced arrows except the pixies don't need an arrow. A 100 mana blast to the face should prove quite distracting (or more likely, deadly) for most enemies, and the males/ drones have a combat form they can use to defend. That's no joke considering how fast pixies can fly.
LOL @ Drag You only think walking is a skill because you can’t MOON WALK! And all Birds must learn to fly.
Oh right it might have been spells. Its still a pretty big weakness. I mean what skill other than lances could a pixie even use against other races? Using falcons as mounts.
With their Battle Form they should be able to Learn the Unarmed Combat Skill, in fact they would probably be able to create/have their own Racial Sub-Skill version of it.
The great library...of the mist. It is a good thing that the mist is magikal, you don't want damp books. I would suggest a speed reading course, but they seem to fly through reading the books, magikal ones at least. If a core-version is made, I wonder if blueprints can be made of it. Could be that the magikal makeup up of the building prevents such a thing. There is so much overlap with the house of Scholarship, hopefully synergy happens.
There is some overlap between the two in that both have a focus on knowledge and learning, but ultimately a research laboratory and a library are different things. Just as they are different from a pure learning facility such as a school, college or university. That said, there should be synergy. Its impossible to say how much difference it will do for now. A library could boost the aquisition speed of knowledge based skills, similar to the way the level 3 barracks boost the acquisition speed of combat related skills by +25%. A core library would give the maxed out bonus to acquisition speed for relevant skills including research, in addition to core building bonuses. I've made it clear elsewhere that I think Richter will use the skull of the ancient lawmaker, thereby allowing said lawmaker and his ideals to share his wisdom and thinking on legal matters as well as his ruminations on the perfect society. It should make it a lot easier for Richter to write his codex of laws, the constitution so to speak of his new kingdom. Its pretty important to get that right the first time, to establish the duties of the nobility and the king, while safeguarding the rights of the common people (the reverse is true as well, but its never a problem for a medieval government to heap duties on the populace and nobility will fight for every scrap of rights they can get).
I am pretty sure you were against that idea of using the skill because it could remove the enchantments from the pool of clarity. Oh how times have changed Though being against and thinking Richter will do it are separate things.
Hmm. I thought only the pixie queen would have more pixies. And the others kinda bonded with their trees and their sprites.
Without Richter the place will fall as normal. Though some traps (dark abortition) are already taken care of.
Just and fair: I am your lord, do what I tell you and serve me. I will except the weight of ruling so you can pursue non-work or non-governance during your leasure time.
Why core library NOW is not optimal! boom chakallaka boom! We already have a house of Learning: So this already gives: Research Scribing speed & success Education of MV & lore acquisition Epiphanies... So what can we get from a library? Maybe, maybe better chance to absorb a book. thats it. but with good quality books(which lvl 1 books will be either way not a problem) At this point the question is weather chance to learn a spell beeing 99.5% is good enough or we wanna 99.9% ?! But lets get to the Meat of my arguments! first let me ask you great minds of the Deep. Why we won't have any books to put in the library? Spoiler I said think, not just click, brain you brain! Spoiler Ok trade, we will be selling all the remaining books for trade, to hafizz sons and others like sprites! now brain more before clicking! Spoiler We will use them for learning! now you assume that we will use only the current books we have for learning. Wrong. we will be using all the books we will create to teach like 1000(2000 actually cause carravan and migrants) dudes to do magics! How long it will take to cribe 10000 books? for each magical school! Richto will spend years on it, even if use multiple scribes! and mages! but we dont need just 10000 books we will need 20000 books. and at any time we will only have 5 available.. probably less. Why? Because we will have every villager tested for affinities(every month, cause dungeon give affinities +%), also we will have to test the NEW Carravan of migrants! so ~2000 mv dudes total! And they will be learning in a row based on their affinities from 100% affinity to life magics to 99%.. 95%..60%..50%... and in this order they will get the books(to decrease the chance of hmm failing to absorb basic lvl 1 shit? lol), so that the Dungoen mana seepadge and affinity boost would give the remainig 50%-ters like 1 mo later 60% affinity or so and a greater chance to learn. boom. So after we will scribe books for at very least 6 months with all the bonuses and such even using additional mages.. will not be enough to teach everyone magics form books, because we will lack them and lack of even materials to make books! Prob will need years... so end result: We will consume all the books written to learn magics, Quickening, PoP with 4 magically active leylines, Now Tier 2 beast meat & ingredients, & Dungeon is increasing affinities and we will have a lot of new citizens.. too. So its not a fixed number of magically active ppl. its f.e. 100 citizen who can do magic NOW but also + [1 ; x] new mages every day(from reasons mentioned above) And the existing 100+- mages are getting more new affinities so +1 new mage for that 100 mages too every day for a new school of magic. so at least +2 new mages or so to the 100 existing capable casters. Trade cause good $, with Hafiz, and sprites, dwarfs etc.. especially healing magic books. So the end result is that at least in the short term. we won't have any books, not if we are smrt about it. Core libr. could maybe be better in some way as enhancing the existing books, if we will wait for x years, but we need $ now baby now. What can a core libr give us additionally to the house of learning? Bonus effects to books? yep after creation or long time of staing there(but same can be done with the core house of scholarship too) Bonus to learning? house already gives that aquiring know how? same house gives this too. we simply will not have any books, we now have like what 4-6 books? we live in middle ages, everyone is a savage. If we want a library to be viable.. we must Must MUST rob a library in some ancient ruin, city, ransack Yves tower of mages. Also maybe a core library would gift better bonuses, but library is a bit of different type of building. Still rob a bookstore, then borrow books, trade books, price for using a portal might be paid in books. Buy books from labyrinth store? P.S. you have no idea how many crops were needed for a perfect fit between these two pics of the houses descr.
A research lab (house of scholarship) is a different facility. There may be some overlap, but I don't think it will be much. The knowledge/ understandings of the ancient philosopher could give them unique insights into the "perfect society" that Richter can use for his codex of laws. That's the next big step forward for the kingdom, more important in the long run than levelling the realm to level 2. That's not something any of Richter's current advisors can help with, at best they can guide him down their own path. Considering Yves is a racist human-supremacy, warmongering state that's probably not a pattern worth copying. The sprites ditto, though not because they are racist or xenophobic. Richter needs to put down a firm foundation for his kingdom before things get established, before the elder council or the nobility gain too much momentum and he would have to dismantle the defacto structure to impose his vision. Even the universe is prompting Richter to act NOW and not later. Plus, libraries and scholars huts are treated as seperate buildings by the universe. Even if they overlap with similar bonuses in some areas, that doesn't mean a bonus is cancelled out.
Hmm I wonder how does one level basic buildings? With core ones its like : create 100 master lvl items With basic ones you either will need blueprints.. or make a large number of research breakthroughs.. but more likely research lvl 4??
Core buildings are magical buildings that level on their own when conditions are fullfilled. As far as we know normal buildings are built at a given level, and have no chance of levelling on their own. So to level them you could go like this 1) You research the basic tech, granting you the or a schematic for the higher leveled building. ' 1.b) Its possible a builder will be part of the research process, allowing him to put his or her own spin on the new building while retaining all bonuses. 2) You build a new facility or rebuild the old according to the new schematic. 3) Profit.
Alternatively he could use settlement points for it, but that should be saved for the most critical infrastructure.
