Unless at some point that randy is unaware of, their crystal was partially sacrificed to another settlement reducing the power levels of the kingdom

I need a little clarification as to what precisely you mean and how it impacts my point about the king seeking expansion over personal power. :(

Excellent. That makes total sense. I also would agree that the lower level is likely what drove them out.

It is completely possible that this particular king is so decadent that the thought of leaving a legacy never even entered his mind. He already has shown that he never pays any attention to his settlement/kingdom screen, cause there is noway a ruler could see the abysmal loyalty/moral rank he must have and Its consequences, then continue to make it Worse.

Wasn't really about your other point, just that they might not still be benefitting from the higher levels of the powers being unlocked from past kings.

For the king to have an abysmal loyalty and moral rank he would have to offend more than a dwindling minority of nonhumans. Don't forget that we have textev confirming that many Yvesian humans agree with these policies of racial prejudice, a sentiment that is spreading rapidly from the center of the kingdom. Others simply do not care.

I think the king's moral and loyalty rank is well above rank 0.

    Edit:
One major factor would be opening the Dungeon to the general public. While a lot of people will die from that policy, they chose to risk everything to make a better life for themselves. Regardless of the cost, the king opened the Dungeon to every human in Yves so that even the lowliest serf has a shot at wealth and power. That's prime propaganda material.

As well as a good way to control (and reduce undisired&non-useful) population and earn money from those that normally would give anything to the Crown.
