Ten realms series for me. Hero of the valley series is also really good. Plus a ton of stories on RoyalRoad.
He who fights monsters by Shirtaloon is so much better than ten realms. Michael chatfield in my opinion once again flubbed the conclusion of his litrpg story. The ending of emerelia was not only ridiculous it was inconsistent with earlier details. Ten realms began going in that direction in book 8 and 9 so I haven’t actually read book 10 yet.
Understandable. Its pretty epic. Have you caught up to the latest chapters? I really like following pirateba on her stream as she writes the next chapter. Its nice seeing the process play out. Its also nice to have an author who makes observable progresss. Edit: That last line could be seen as offensive to other authors. I'm specifically referring to authors that ghost fans for years. While its their right, its annoying.
I would disagree that its their right to ghost fans. Without their readers, and especially fans they would have no income. No one would be buying their books, be they audio, paper or electronic, merch or going to cons to see them. All authors with a few exceptions who abandon their fans end up landing in obscurity. And I don't think aleron will be one of those exceptions. Also when an author writes a book and than starts using his fans for income he is in essence creating a social contract.
Honestly when I got on the forum, discussing the books, and talking shit about the delays did I ever think it would've taken this long for book 9. I think the bad feedback on the last 2 books may have broke him, at the very least got him into his own head. At this point I'm kind of thinking we may never get book 9.
There's a problem with surrounding yourself with "Yes-men" and listening to them all... I've been hated for six years I've been in LitRPG, but I'm still learning and growing...
That's the right mentality: growth and evolution. AK came into writing immediately praised so now he thinks he's a literary god who can do no wrong, so he can't handle backlash. His Alpha readers are definitely useless "yes-persons" since so many read his books yet miss typos and literally shitty chapters before publishing.
I think he was hit harder by covid times than anyone knew until recently. I think he didn’t write much and also didn’t have conventions to go to, either.
It’s the typos and easy errors that get me. The poop chapter made me laugh the first time I read it because it was unexpected and I have a juvenile sense of humor at times, haha.
Tower of Gates is my longest series. Six main books and two side-novels... I've got a few others on Amazon under Paul Bellow. [/end indie begging] Thanks!
Thanks, guys. Had a rough day - maybe roughest day on Amazon ever in my 10+ years? Someone returned $50 worth of ebooks... yikes!
I can understand giving an author a shot finding their book is crap and returning that book. I have even bought books from multiple authors, found they were crap and returned them. But why the hell would you buy multiple books from an author you don’t know in the first place?
A few big name authors in the genre hate me personally and their fans have made my life hell for years now. Heh. I'm still going, though. Having fun helps a lot... but money does put food on the table....
So your saying it’s probably malicious intent. that was my first thought as well, but I am trying to not just assume malicious intent. It is sad that ebook sellers don’t have some kind of protection against that.
Yeah, who knows. No way to prove it, but my spidey-senses tingle... Like I said, I'm still writing and having fun. Money isn't everything! Playing with AI to generate NPCs today... Thoughts? AI wrote the text then made the images based off the text...
