    Greetings,

I study novels that are similar to my own writing style, so I can identify where I can improve. I'm looking for excellent writing with the following characteristics.

    -- close/tight/deep, 3rd person limited
-- short chapters (generally less than 3k)
    -- fantasy / science fiction

I'm currently studying The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. He does some things very well, though I don't like how he shows character thoughts. He slips into present tense, though doesn't indicate that he's making a change. It may work for his story, though I don't love the style. Line-by-line switches between past and present tense leads to confusion.

I'd love to find a true master of the craft to study from, that is similar to my writing. If you have suggestions, let me know. Thanks!
