Farpoint PlayStation VR review

It's not exactly a glowing endorsement, and were this a regular first-person shooter (FPS), the verdict would be to steer well clear.

But Farpoint isn't a regular first-person shooter.

This is Sony's attempt at a proper virtual reality blockbuster, and also marks the launch of the PlayStation VR Aim Controller.

And it's the combination of PlayStation VR and Sony's Aim Controller that transforms an ordinary shooter into an enjoyable VR experience.

Take the game world, for example. Farpoint has players explore desert plains, caverns and crash sites in search of a missing research team that strayed a little too close to a wormhole.

Farpoint's alien planet looks like it could have been ripped from any 90s shooter. It has a dull colour palette, linear design and zero in the way of jaw dropping vistas.
