Wow. He's getting decimated in the reviews. What happened? Anyone read it yet? As bad as they say? Still ranking decent at around #1000
You weren't kidding. Those reviews are more brutal than death metal. It sounds like his review copy got uploaded instead of the final product.
Short version long - and it's on facebook and the reddit - someone uploaded the wrong version of the book and it's full of errors. Like, really full of errors. They're fixing it - but all those who read it minute one will...be wrong. So, indies out there - this is proof that your final version should be checked, re-checked, then triple checked, then you should take a few shots of rum (or whatever) and check the darn thing again...
With time - the sad part is that hundreds will have the wrong version, and may not get to it right away. The "editing" based reviews will continue to come for a bit.
Looks like it’s already fixed. I grabbed the sample and it looked okay to me. Even so, from the sample alone I can see where some of the bad reviews have a point that didn’t involve the draft copy.
People be rushing books in popular series (myself included)... Slowing down... If it were me, I'd maybe try to republish with a big 'ole note in the blurb. Weird pricing. This guy Russian?
I think so. At least, the books feel Russian, anyway. Lots of little references and a certain style to the writing that’s common among all of the Russian litrpg I’ve read.
Yeah, for me it was the odd pricing and no KU. Book kinda has the feel of the designer for Plot-Line Tester... can't think of his name off-hand. Aren't pet hamsters big for some reason?
The greed hamster, I think? I can’t really explain it, it’s just something about how the inner monologue flows or something that just screams Russian to me.
That Dostoevski-ness maybe? Would be cool to have a US and Russian author work together on something. I might have a short-story in an anthology of different authors next year. We shall see.
Just finished the book an I'm going to give it 2 out of 5. It was bloated with unnecessary info dumps and pointless side story and a rushed main plot.
I'm reading the book now and boy do I feel cheated of a good story. It's a tragedy, really. I can see why the ratings are so low, at first I was like, "cool! a sneak peek into the workings of a novel in a series I know I love." But nah, while the authors natural writing is impressive, the rambling that everyone else mentioned is frusterating and unsatisfying. </3
