It might lose its meaning? Or be too cryptic? Or maybe mysterious is good? I'll play with it more later. Maybe I can merge the controller into the book? We could get rid of the + and = and simplify it more that way. Great idea!
I think those ones overcomplicates things, and I think it would put off a lot of people who weren't already LitRPG readers. They will see the controller and not be interested, or assume the book is a companion to some crappy game no one has ever heard of. I think something vaguer would be better. Something where, when you know what it is, you know, but if you don't, it's not so easy to make incorrect assumptions about what it is. It's hard trying to think of something inclusive enough, too. I know lots of people consider Sufficiently Advanced Magic to be LitRPG, but it's not a game, so why the symbol? I was thinking of something like the VR symbol, but not every LitRPG uses VR. And the dice are too tabletoppy. It needs to be something new and inclusive, I think. I do like the idea of a +1 - the tag on my blog has a +1 - but that on itself is probably TOO vague.
I realise I'm saying no, no, no, without providing alternatives. Right now I have none, but I'm going to let it percolate a bit.
Maybe something like a shared banner? The way the old D&D novels all had at the top. This is something I came up with for my ads:
I would add that banner or the + banner to my book if you're not embarrassed to see your emblem on a semi-erotic novel.
BTW is anyone wants that thing in higher DPI just let me know. I didn't want to post a massive file & bog down the page.
I was thinking the same thing Cheshire. I have a Space Marine LitRPG, the sword could work for a future book, but not my current storyline. I work in Photoshop most days (did my own cover for Extraction Protocol). I might work something up.
Just stick one on top pointing the other way. And I'd make it a futuretech laser rifle or something instead of an AR-15, myself. Because sci-fi
