It might take a Massive amount of a Mana type in Spell form (or other free form Mana Energy) to have an effect of starting to Awakening a Magic Type in the Dungeon. But I think that the Dungeon can get much easier access to Absorbing Mana types from Living (and Undead, Living Dead, Spirit, ect) creatures then from Spell/ect energy, likely this holds true to for it being better at Absorbing Mana types from Magical Items, Equipment and Materials as well.

Undead are created by Death Magic, Death Spirits or similar, so they are all pretty much chock'a'block full of Death Magic Energy, most Living creatures aren't full of Life Magic Energy (maybe a tiny, tiny, tiny amount?), exceptions to this might be Life Magic Affinity Beasts (like those (V)Wurms) or Creatures from Life Magic Planes or possibly Life Summons.
After all the Dungeon seemed to be able to start to Awaken Void Magic in itself from all those dead Voidling Undead.

Well living beings are filled with some kind of power. We know that blood mages can harvest it. That's probably ambient mana, which could very well be what powers undead, living dead and other death creatures as well. Barring the extreme cases such as the abomination, which was an example of extremely high-level dark magic used maliciously to create a being made of almost pure dark power.

Oh, good points about the spells. But not at all, ya think?

Oh, yeah. How many things do you think the dungeon absorbed? Would it take everything the defenders dropped or give them a one time exception? What if they wanted some loot (not loot balls) from the beings they vanquished?

    So many questions!

It took everything the defenders dropped and likely ate any corpses left behind as well.

Indeed it Ate all the Bodies, and then Absorbed all the Items but it's success of Learning how to create Items is a lot lower unless they are dropped into the Font rather then just dropped and absorb in the Dungeon itself.
