I know on Wikipedia that had listings for books that could be considered Cyberpunk, if they were written during the 80s and 90s, but were written about a decade or so before it hit it big. Same deal with Steampunk to a lesser degree.

Are there any good proto-LitRPGs? It almost seems like 80s and 90s would be the era proto-LitRPGs would be out, aside from obvious predecessors like Ready Player One.

There is this one guy who became famous for writing fantasy books plotted based on a crazy butt load of puns, though I can't think of his name off hand. I'm not even what fantasy genre that be considered.

Edit: Here we go, Piers Anthony.
