Just a heads up y’all, Geneva posted this on the new discord server: The Land Mayhem, Book 9 - Late 2021 God's Eye 2 (title to be announced) -to follow shortly after 9 release The Land Audiobook - expected 3-5 months after ebook release, depending on schedules and Audibles timing on things
It always helps when they reinforce it at least. As long as they are talking about it I’m happy. Official Discord: Join the Aleron Kong's Mist Village Discord Server!
Well at least it’s something. Has been a bit of an information drought. I was hoping for a surprise! It’s coming in a week! Type announcement. Instead it’s probably going to be December. Here’s hoping he starts to pick up the pace. More than a year between releases really puts a strain on me. I’ve already dropped off Brandon Sanderson books because of long release waits.
I get what you’re saying buts it’s not really once per year, he is “planning” on releasing two books, albeit with a “small” gap, which would be two books in a little over a year. I think the issue is more so that he wants to release them near the same time. I’d rather he worked one project at a time, say 6-8 months per book and just released on a schedule like that, but I get creativity and burn-out plays a factor so we get what we get and we don’t throw a fit ♂️
I don’t even care about his schedule. He just needs to hold his breath on any kind of release date. If it’s not on the Printing press please don’t tell me when you dream about finishing it. I had much rather get some sort of tease. Like Aleron saying what do you think would happen if? Just tossing out an idea that Ricther might do______ and what that might lead to would create lots of talk.
i reserve the right to throw a fit if he takes well over a year to release books in the land. My interest will wane and I’ll eventually drop the series. And that sucks for everyone if it happens on a large scale.
Honestly, I think he took some of the poor reviews for Book 8 a bit personally and might be over-polishing book 9 to try and get back on track. He also might just be running into some writers block. Writing is hard and keeping the juices flowing for more than 2-3 books is damn difficult. I think he just needs to let it go and publish.. Yes the last book wasn't up to quality but you can't be great EVERY time. Sometimes you gotta just say that enough is enough and get the book out the door.
Honestly book 8 was about as good as the others. It was the sudden and massive departure from the norm that got most people angry. Well that and two specific scenes.
I liked book eight and liked it better on rereads. I liked the symmetry of beginning again with nothing, no items, as the first in a new arc, which goes with the new tier as well. I thought many of the mechanic explanations were unnecessary, that’s my biggest complaint. It was also a large book and not much plot happened, the story didn’t progress.
could have done without: - beta readers who catch absolutely zero mistakes. - the endless re-explanation fluff used to boost the word count. - the ode to richter's rear end.
For me the only 2 negatives about book 8 was the length of time it took to come out... I think there's a fine line that authors can have between books were expectations/anticipation turn against you and it's too hard to live up to. I think if book 8 would've came out within sooner it wouldn't have been so poorly received. Second issue was all of the re explanation honestly you could cut a 1/4 of the book and I think it would've been better. It feels like he's making the same mistake with 9 in that the continually pushing back the date with no real explanation may bite him again. I'm a fan of the book so I'm invested regardless, but it seem like some may back off if the next book falls flat.
