Well for Richter there are at least two options 1) He advanced 30+ levels in herblore. That's the reward he got, thereas everyone else got a less specific boost to multiple affinities. 2) Aleron forgot.
Soul stone error? I believe Richter purchased increased soul stone yield rank 2 and should have a 50% bonus to the yield of his soul stones, this should stack with Expanded soul talent, but as far as I can tell Aleron has completely forgotten about the increased soul stone yield talent which would have been more valuable to the main character of this book anyway.
He used both talents in combination to max out the value of 3 common stones, that went from 30 => 50 points. On a sidenote you are right it should be soul stone yield 2, he advanced it in book 7. Chapter 56, book 7
You are correct I didn’t read far enough, it is a pretty worthless specialty though Ricther would get a much bigger benefit for less cost by increasing the rank of soul stone yield to rank 3.
It increases the potential of a common soul stone by up to 70%. Its worth far more than another 25% increase. The math goes like this for soul points assuming rank 2 yield with the new talent and rank 3 without. 40 *1.5 = 60 30 * 1.75 = 52.5 You'd need rank 4 yield to match what the new talent does for common soul stones. Which means in this case expanded souls is worth 2 ranks of the yield talent. Expanded soul cost 97 talent points thereas rank 3 of the yield talent cost 40 talent point and rank 4 will presumably cost 80 talent point if it follows its current path. For a total of 120 talent points. It goes beyond that Some of these are worth half a dozen ranks in the yield talent.
Kind of upset he hasn't gotten "more powerful soul stones" once or twice. If he did it thrice, he could have common rank be the lowest sized soul stone he ever makes, and would only need gems that normally make luminous soul stones to create resplendent soul stones. Costly in terms of talent points (level 1 costs 40tps), but the savings he could eventually manage, both in terms of materials/gold, and in souls not lost due to not having a high enough soul stone would be amazing. At a minimum he needs to buy the first level, since he'll then be able to turn the stones he been making common soul stones from into luminous stones, once he hits light magic level 15.
You are only taking into account the highest yields he got from the scorpions most of the ones he killed only gave 10 or eleven points. Out of the 22 scorpions he killed he only the highest three stones he got added up to 40 points if you averaged in the rest of the kills the numbers would point to taking a guaranteed 25% increase and saving the talent points. He can always go for expanded soul later when he actually has the ability to capture the souls of higher level monsters.
I don't think he needs to officially form a war party, just be fighting alone as someone with the war leader skill. Regardless he should be benefitting from some promotions and earning some small amount of war points
Well we know from Randy that some skill rank bonuses have to be unlocked. I also think its been said somewhere that at level 150 you become a grandmaster, which would just so happen to be the seventh rank.
In the peninsula Master is the greatest height with grandmaster as a distant dream, in the outside world the scale may well continue upwards.
My biggest beef is still with inspiring leadership or whatever. 1v1 with Nien rockets it up to 19, enough to gain its own blurb about how locking yourself in with high level undead is pretty inspiring yada yada yada, then forgets all about it in the very next book. What are these beta readers even doing
So true not even an individual blurb about it. Freaking Alpha, Beta, and Gamma readers were not able to point it out?
Supposedly it'll get fixed in the updated version they'll be using for the print version but I'll believe it when I see it.
In a shocking twist, ShoutLoud is actually one of his beta readers and is trying to deflect from his poor performance!
If anyone would like to email aleron ( I have already done so) that we would like him to share a protected copy online so we, The Exiles - the original gamma readers, can post all our ...discrepancies..via copies in one place of actual text. I would appreciate it. You might need to sign an NDA too. include geneva.agnos.va@gmail.com as a Carbon Copy (CC).
Instantly and without regret. I'm so down for this I mean I'm not, but I would be given the opportunity. Otherwise.... The shame
