You are right. I misread part of it. So you have to be enrolled in KDP get the 70% for certain countries, and the US is not one of those. So as long as it is priced between 2.99 and 9.99 in the US you will get the 70% royalty, KDP does not matter.

See I had the opposite happen, until my paperback was up, it said I had a much lower page count.

Of course you are. KU isn't a very profitable program, I imagine. I wish I owned enough stock in Amazon to be able to call them for a line item P&L instead of just the annual and quarterly shareholder's report.

But in order to get that, you've gotta own a pretty significant stake in a company.

KDP = Kindle Direct Publishing. That's every book on Kindle. Kindle Select = a book in Kindle Unlimited.

I get all their K shit mixed up, KU, KDP, KS, KENPR, etc etc. I am also not a big fan of their customer support right now, they are very unhelpful. I find that odd since I have always had great customer support with the regular amazon store stuff, they even completely replaced one of my kindles free of charge after my son dropped it in the tub. The KDP side are all dbags.

If you are saying that their Customer Service sucks for authors, that's because in their eyes you aren't a Customer anymore. You're a Provider, and the 'Zon won't ever side with "us"... Sigh. :(

Yeah, that's the dirty side to being consumer-focused. As a consumer I love them for their customer service, but as a content provider I'd probably hate them too.
