Started messing around in Photoshop after Winter Dungeonland was released, because it helps inspire me for future novels. I was originally planning to write Cupcake Keep Under Siege and then Archangel, but I'm feeling more inspired about Archangel at the moment. Maybe I just need a break from the high fantasy world, and want to drop into UF for a bit. It'll still be LitRPG but it's a very different flavor from most others out there. Like I said, think dark UF. This is the current cover draft.
Ooh. Another plot idea. Hacker in the future goes into writers' brains and steals ideas for novels they haven't written yet.
They kinda did that in Future Man with popular dances and songs... and technology for that matter “black apple.”
Talking to an artist on Deviant Art after seeing an illustration that spoke to me. He's open to selling me the rights to the image. If I used it as a cover it'd have a very different feel from the original. Note: The text is just there for placement. I know it's not blended and fails to pop. Thoughts on artwork, original vs this one? I like this one because I imagine her shopping for upgrades on one monitor while monitoring for distress calls on the other.
Honestly, I like this one more than your abstract ones. Looks like it fits the genre well. Great find!
I like it too. At this rate I'll probably go with it. I think this is the first time the artist has ever sold art for use on a book cover, so I'm trying to get him up to speed on what is and isn't normal in the book cover world. Examples: - No you may not have a percentage of my royalties - Yes you may use it in your portfolio, or even sell the image to someone else as long as it's not an exclusive agreement - This is what I typically pay for cover art, this is what I pay for a completed book cover from a professional designer. ... and so on. He's receptive so that's a good thing. I want this cover to have a different feel from the others due to the change in setting (real world).
Got the high res files. Started messing around a bit more. Changed the shading on the text and added subtle angel wings behind the title to give it more contrast.
Alright so I've decided that this is going to be the next FHO book. I need to finish off my current non-LitRPG Sci-Fi project before I roll it out. For now I'm still mapping out the main protagonists in terms of stats, merits, flaws, etc.
Thank you. This is one of those covers where an image just really spoke to me so I reached out to the artist and asked if I could buy the rights.
I've thought about that, but I freeze at the thought of approaching another creator to say, "Hey, I wanna buy this." Well, except Virgotch. Haven't seen him around much lately.
