Hi everyone, I'm Trevor Smith. I've been an avid gamer and reader for years, but only recently became aware of the LitRPG genre. Ever since I got kindle unlimited, I've been voraciously devouring sci-fi and fantasy novels. The Land series (by he who shall not be named) was recommended to me based on my interest in 5th Edition Shadowrun books (the P&P RPG) of all things. After mowing through that series, Awaken online, VGO, and Eden's Gate, I've seen the light in regards to the potential of the genre. But with each series I read, while I've overall enjoyed my time with each for different reasons, I'm always left feeling like SOMETHING could have been done better. With that, I'm taking some advice I've seen from quite a few authors on this forum and others. I'm throwing my hat into the ring and starting my own LitRPG novel. I've published a few short stories and poems, but never something of this scale. I do want to point out that I'm not doing this with the attitude of "Every other author suxxors, let me show them how it's done", quite the opposite. I have a huge respect for the work other authors have put into their own works and into growing the genre. But nothing has quite hit ALL of what I feel I'm looking for from the genre, so I'll write something that is what I'm looking for, share it, and maybe, just maybe, it will be what some other folks are looking for also. So cheers, see you on the forums!
My brother doesn't wanna call me a gamer 'cuz my favorite game is The Sims 3. ... Anyhoo... Welcome! I just joined yesterday, my dude, so you're my first welcoming. Look forward to what you bring into the genre because I feel a lot of the same!
[Oh wow this gif just made my day <3 I'm stealing it.] To the OP: welcome! I totally understand. Occasionally I'm like "Can someone please finish my story for me so I can read it without having to write it myself?"
