So is Richter pulling a number out of his ass or is the HT actually about 200 stories tall?

The Hearth Tree was the single largest structure he had come across since coming to The Land. The thing was so big it boggled the mind. It was just a guess, but he thought it was over two hundred stories tall. Richter had always thought it had grown that large because it was built on a Place of Power, but maybe that wasn’t the whole story.

That would make it more than a kilometer high and very, very wide at the ground level - seriously, they could have a small village at the bottom layer. Either HM has a LOT of unused space around or this is basically a kingdom living inside a tree. Just to get an idea, the HT would be about 50 stories higher than the Burj Khalifa. Probably with many, many times the interior space.

No wonder the kingdom of Yves wants an alliance. And i was thinking of the sprites as being around 20.000 in numbers...

I think the HT is supposed to be something like Yggdrasil, except not so large. So yes, it is immense.

Well it is referenced that home tree is around 490 feet (150 meters), that is about 45 stories.

Richter could just be bad at judging size and be an untrustworthy narrator. I hope not.

Actually that is true and we often judge the information from this book based on where the info is coming from. Richtær in his first person perspective is quite unreliable.

Hopefully Richtær has actually seen a 200 story building. I know I would not be able to tell how tall a really tall tree is by walking up to it. The larger the tree the worse my ability to judge.

Maybe. He does live in the future, though the largest building in existence is only 150 some stories. I linked to it earlier, as we can see that thing is huge.
