My ex roommate spent soooooooo much money on this “free” game. I imagine he’s gonna be disappointed when it gets shuttered.

    All games end eventually.

I played Nox obsessively for years. Imagine someone took Diablo 2 - gear, spells, powers ups - then combined it with Unreal's speed type play, capture the flag - top down - with mages, summoners, and warriors? Uh, yes.

But then the servers went down. I became the saddest panda.

There are still people playing Diablo 2 multiplayer though. And hell, I’ve been known to break out some truly old games like Pong from time to time.

The problem is with licensed games. Licenses expire and have to be renegotiated after awhile, and sometimes it’s just not cost effective to the company to keep paying those licensing fees and royalties.
