First few episodes are cute. Though they blur the line a bit between on screen game and sort of live action (I mean, it's all anime), so it breaks immersion a bit - but I like it so far.

Watched the first episode last night Had some funny moments. Character designs were mediocre/bland. It's pretty obvious the player of the cutesy girl character is the guy she bumped into at the store and hopefully this doesn't devolve into romance and go too light on the fantasy elements.

On that note, there haven't been any gender-bending LitRPGs have there?

Dominion of blades had a trans guy in it. But I don't really count that as gender bending...
The closest thing to gender bending is probably when the mc dresses up as a female goblin in that russian litrpg...

Spinward has a side character as gay man playing a girl... does that count?

If you're ok with a Light Novel or a VRMMO Manga, then look for Only Sense Online.

It wasn't a big arc, but Log Horizon had a girl playing as a guy who then needed help to change her character to female once they got stuck in the game, since she didn't want to play a male character forever.

Of course it counts, sexual orientation and gender identity are two distinct things.

Which was hilarious. I was rolling when I read that scene. Very Shakespearean. ^.^

There's probably quite an untapped market there.

I've been looking at something called (The King's Avatar) which is a chinese anime. The subbed episodes are on youtube.

It's the OP mc done right which I like. the series is a bit cold since he's so stoic but I'm interested.

    Plot:-

(Please keep in mind that the names are in Chinese and I will therefore refer to the characters as him or her!)

A professional gamer is the best in the game "glory" which is a WoW styled mmo with alot of attention detecated to PvP.
The Guy is actually nicknamed the god of the game as he is untouchable. Thing is the man behind the avatar is pretty old fashioned and a recluse. Nobody outside his pro gamer club thingie knows his name much less his face. This sadly made him replaceable, the club decided to drop him when he was 25 as being too old and made him sign a contract handing over his avatar -something he had worked on and perfected for 10 years- to his replacement. A young very marketable player that he himself trained in glory.

Instead of throwing a fit he understands, It might have started out as a fun game when he was 15 but it was business now and since he wasn't into getting sponsers are publicity stunts it just wasn't for him. Handing over his character and signing a contract to not join another club for a year minimum he is now unemployed and unemployable.

Getting a minimum wage in a net cafe -are those still around?- he decides to join glory again as a casual player (aka not competitive so as not to break the contract) and starts from ground zero.

He eats alot of shit from his boss and previous rivals/team members in RL as they walk in to gloat. however in the game even as a noob he is untouchable. not because of weapons or abilities but because he knows this game in and out and has trained more then half the current pros. He mostly uses tactics to defeat bosses and to win PvP but what makes him god level is his APM speed... I'm thinks that means typing speed or something.

That was in the shaman book. I laughed out loud for real when I read that... the first time. I didn't think it was that funny when he used it again in the next book.

APM is Actions Per Minute. It’s a metric from competitive MOBA and RTS tournaments

ok that makes sense, at least he's winning by skill merit not by abusing some game mechanic or item like most anime/manga/litrpg but I think I like the character moments the most not the game.
