That lute woulda been so worth it. Just imagine richter pulling out his lute to play "danny boy" and getting a boost to charisma... while surrounded by an army of goblins. Oh well, better luck next time...
So I am wondering about the Chaotic Psi Scroll. Provides a scroll of Deeper Magic of Thought...is it Chaotic because it is random? must be just as the exact nature of the scent was unknown until manifested. Anyway, do scrolls need to be used or can they be read without being used. Maybe copied so that It is not magical so that it is kept for later. Things like this could be great for the library if it can be read and studied. Really this could be the case for any scroll, as long as it is mundanely copied.
Hopefully he will get another Chance to Purchase a Thought/Psionic Magic Spell in the future, or find someone or something that can Teach him. He should hopefully Awaken to Thought Magic before he Professes to a Mage Profession, should give him greater options to Specialise in.
Maybe because it has a chance of backfiring, like the summoning scroll, or causing unintended effects?
The Spell might very well have just been a Regular Thought Magic Spell that was just available for Purchase via the Chaos Sea, after all not everything bought from it has been Chaos infused/aligned, or even the bulk of for that matter.
