WIP Seventh Talon

I always enjoy that con. Lot of game playing and RP'n, although a few DnD sessions I went to the DM they assigned was boring as shit.

I played a lot of Massive Darkness which is a very fun board game / RPG.

Dragoncon is ok, but that con is more focused on cosplay. People are literally everywhere, and its not as enjoyable in my opinion. Still a cool convention, especially if you can get into some of the author panels. I tried to get into as many of those as possible, but sometimes the crowds work against you since they are spread out among like ten hotels.

Point is, if I had to choose a con to do a LitRPG setup, I would choose Gencon hands down. It is catered way more to gamers in general (maybe not video gamers, but D&D and other RP type games, and board games galore). Which are your reader types anyway, so you are much more likely to pick up new readers there.

Yup, and I believe we can setup a booth in the author row too. Which is in the big ass store, seriously largest market in any convention I have been too.

So we can do that and setup a panel for us to talk about the genre and maybe meet some fans. I thought about making a bunch of Bob pun shirts to sell haha.

 

8/25 9221 words and still going. To be fair, I wrote a chapter that I might not use any more. Thought it was fun, but was not really relevant to the book. Maybe I'll add it in as a side story, Patreon might work too haha.

 

8/26-8/31 Not going to count the words but up to roughly 8 chapters. My characters did not behave and went on a side journey without me. Those bastards. I like when I get to the meat of the story, and how quickly things change on me. It still remains on track, but went a route I wasn't expecting. Which cuts out a story arc I was on the fence about anyway.

 

Captain's Log 090617 - Up to chapter 24, but there is a plot point I am debating which would wipe out the last two chapters. Maybe I just delay the encounter, and Red Shirt Bob died today. He was all like 'ahhh' and a sandworm got him, that shit was a knee slapper. 'ahhh' hahaha.

 

Captain's Log - 090717 - Yesterday, I made it to chapter 28, I lied to my crew. However, when I recorded the log, I thought I was done, but sleep would not take me. However, my little she elf has taken quite the dark turn, and I love it. She can crush bones and even I am afraid of her... Don't piss off the verifiably insane she elf, she doesn't like that.

Today, I am going to go back through some of the early chapters and try to fix some things that I have been putting off. We shall see how it goes...

 

Okay now I want to read it. When is it coming James?

 

man I am pounding away on it as fast as I can, I hope I can publish by the end over November. But yea, its moving along. I think I am already at 50k words with about 20k sitting to the side as content I might use, but it was cut as other stuff came up that I liked better.

I have the last chapter wrote out in a notebook. I was in the car listening to this song and boom I'm like what if... and then I'm like oh... and then I'm like yea, that ties in with the end of the series chapter I have too, which is like .. cry, laugh, cry some more.

Thought you were going to get some spoilers didn't you? haha

Man I haven't posted in awhile. Hard at work (both jobs, or all three if you count family haha).

So from whatever date until:
10/8 - Redid a large part of my story because of some changes that happened when I finished the very first rough draft. Did a lot of rewriting and content filler. I'm at roughly 70k words at this point (not including the 30k words I probably cut out with my rewrite), and still have several big scenarios to finish out. I'll most likely end with 100k+ words, we shall see what the cards hold. I'm liking my little Mercury Elf, she is growing into a bad ass, and the magic system has turned out to be better than I anticipated. I think the next book is going to have a much darker tone though.

Along with that, the second and third books have plot lines and twists already developing from this book, so a lot of things left over will come back around again. I'm in a good place, I just need to finish all the scenes I still have planned and I'm not sure yet exactly how it is going to end, because my characters changed on me again. I know what it will end on, but not sure yet who will be standing there and what will lead to it. Its all a mystery... haha.
