WOOT So, who else watched Bright on Netflix?

I finally got a chance to sit down and watch it. I wanted to see what others thought?

It's actually kind of interesting. Critics hated it. So far audiences actually seemed to like it quite a bit.

 

I laughed so hard when I saw the trailer so this is definitely on my watch list. I hope they go all acid humor on racial issues -- that would be gold. Will report back

 

Well, it was made by "Trigger Warning Entertainment" so I found that kind of hilarious.

 

Most of the people I’ve seen commenting about it have all said that it’s WAY too on the nose. Like in the first couple of minutes, Will Smith apparently says “Fairy lives don’t matter”, on the nose.

 

I don't watch TV, but I might go over to my friends house to watch this.

 

I actually sat down to watch it today.

I hated it, might as well replace the word (Orc) with -insert minority here-. They even gave him brown skin in case the message was too subtle.

these come at you from the very beginning, it's just too heavy handed.

When I saw the trailer I thought it would be a fun light hearted buddy cop movie. Well it was a buddy cop movie but they actually went the extra mile to make sure you took it seriously. It just doesn't work when your FBA agent looks like Final Fantasy reject!

Also I just cringed every time someone took a megaphone out and said in a 150% tough guy voice "Give us the magic wand"

I can't I just can't, that's just hilarious and they're playing it straight! You could have called it the elder wand of the Lich Eshmical or the legendary wand of the Dark Lord Akmon.

No it's just a magic wand.


It's not the worse movie of the year. After all I've seen the last Jedi this year. I think this could have worked with a lighter heart and maybe if everything Elvish didn't look so out of place. At the very least they tried something different so points for that.

Yeah but the "give me the magic wand" line was always said by the men... tough acting men all serious.
