    No there wouldn't.
There'd be seven different forms of hominoids running around. For one, I don't think Red Deer Cave People were a different species of human as much as they were a subspecies of Denisova.

No, in this story, you might find that there are four different classes:

    Homo (Don't Start): Jack-of-all-trades.
Australopithecus: Nimble speedsters, but not very intelligent.
Paranthropus: Robust tank-like dwarf-esque humans that can survive on little food.
    Troodon: Hyperintelligent, but weak.

Homo has three species: Sapiens, Neanderthal, and Hobbits, each with their own little stat buffs and nerfs. Neanderthals are actually the best/most well-rounded build but Sapiens have a near eusocial societal structure that make them unreal for raiding. Hobbits/halflings are more like a starter race.

Australopithecus has Afarensis. They're small and bonobo-like, but goddamn me they are fast and capable of parkouring through the trees as if they can defy gravity. And they still move bipedally, so they don't look as awkward as chimps or bonobos.

Paranthropus has Bosei. Bosei, aka 'Sasquatch', is the true tank, capable of taking multiple blows like it's nothing while also having a capable movement speed. They just can't talk or easily create tools.

Troodon has Troodon sapiens and Elves. Yes, in this scenario, elves are literally dinosauroids. In fact, elves are a hybrid between Troodons and various humans. Troodon sapiens goes with the anthrochauvinist idea of Troodon Man, so they're humanoids. They're fragile, not very adept at swimming, and sickly— but holy f**k, are they smart. Like, goddamn. They maxed out on INT to a frankly psychotic degree. So naturally, they have the best weapons.

Homo erectus (seriously, don't start) and Homo naledi can also exist in the game but their numbers are pathetically low, too low to be playable.

All of these playable races can scavenge robotic parts to become partially cybernetic, and it's hinted as being possible to become posthuman in the game with enough upgrades, though that's also dangerous due to the energy scarcity. That's actually kind of trippy to think about: what would a transhuman Neanderthal be like? Would an Australopithecine even be transhuman?

Some bits of artwork that helped to rekindle this concept:

    Troodon sapiens, the dinosauroid man.
