I'm not sure whether anyone else has given this series a try. Its really something, took me the better part of a month and a half to chew my way through the books and I am a heavyduty reader. Those books are massive as well as free on the authors page. I loved it. So many different characters, so many events, so much foreshadowing. I especially love the goblins though, they take centerstage early on and their storylines are just so enjoyable. Classic monsters are people storyline, but done without the author moralizing at us. Someone aced the "show don't tell" part of storytelling class. Also, the stakes feel real because no one is really protected. Disasters, genocide, wars where the invaders crush the defenders, as well as cruelty beyond belief share the stage with heroics and hope. The waning world or innworld or whatever you call it is pretty epic.
I love this series so much! Idk if you're still around but I totally devoured it up through volume 5, which just hit me so hard in the feels I took a break. I caught up to the beginning of volume 8 now.
