Yeah, you youngins lol My Oma hates the current doctor. It's his last season, though. Do you think they'll ever have a female doctor? They did have a female master last season or the season before.
Yeah, Tennant as my favourite might have a lot to do with the fact that I started watching the series when he was The Doctor. I have nothing against a female Doctor - but I have to admit, I'm starting to lose faith in the writers. I really wanted to like Capaldi (and I do, as an actor) but I've felt myself gradually getting more and more bored as the show continues.
This season is a lot better than the last two, but I agree something is missing. I've watched some brief bits of the old Doctor Who...like when the Doctor first explains why it's a police box.
I read a few Doctor Who books when I was growing up, but didn't know how insanely big and popular the franchise was until I picked up a DVD with David Tennant series and watched it with my brother and sister. Then we were hooked! However, I tried watching a few of the older ones and just couldn't get into it. I would like to find some books again, though - I remember having fun reading them.
One of my fondest memories as a child was watching old Doctor Who episodes on PBS. The older ones are very, very cheesy, but the Fourth Doctor still holds his charm. He actually had a cameo in one of the new shows. Are they still writing Doctor Who books? I remember they had a role playing game too - I played a session once at a gaming con.
I'm not sure about new books - for now I'm just looking to see if I can get copies of the New Adventures series, which were published from about 91 to about 97. http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Virgin_New_Adventures
I'm lucky enough to live in a city with three bookstores! I'll have to do some digging soon to see if I can find any. Quests are fun! ETA: Looks like Amazon has a few print copies... https://www.amazon.com/White-Darkness-New-Doctor-Adventures/dp/042620395X
Dr #4 of course! He was also the legless captain rum in black adder II "Oh! You have a woman’s mouth, milord! I’ll wager that mouth never had to chew through the side of a ship to escape the dreadful spindly killer fish."
I remember as a kid insisting that jelly babies HAD to be eaten from a paper bag *takes a jelly baby and eats it* Now bring back daleks that can't climb stairs!
I grew up on Tom Baker, but, Matt Smith just kind of grew on me. He reminded me of Tom Baker's doctor, but, more and much less, mature.
